Super Bowl Thread

Postby Largent80 » Mon Jan 22, 2018 12:10 pm

Maybe too early but.....

I'm pretty sure most of us here will be wanting to see Tommy Boy crying on the sidelines. That includes me.

But it's cool because Peterson grew up as a Hawk fan and is from the NW.

Very easy to root for Philly even if you wanted Minny last Sunday.

I won't be rooting for Philly to win. I'll be rooting for the Pats to lose.

Meh....
For the first time in decades I will not be watching this joke of a game. It’s in the bag for New England. Philly doesn’t stand a chance. I am so sick of the Patriots.
The refs will make sure Tommy and Billy get their 6th ring.

Hi Andrea !!!

Really I think Philly D is better than Jax. They do need to beat the refs and the Pats however. Just like we did vs. Denver.

They have a good shot if ya ask me.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY gave the Giants a chance in either of their Super Bowl games against the Pats. and yet Kraft, Belocose, and Bratty were all crying at the end. I WILL watch to see history for a third time! Brady CHOKING on his own legacy is well worth the "price of admission", admission is this case is tuning in and watching. I know, I know, on the face of it watching the Patriots yet again is akin to torture but the prospect of seeing the Eagles defeat them to win the very first Super Bowl means a can't stay away, no matter how much I hate the Pats. I WILL think about how we kicked the Eagles can on MNF and how with a few tweaks that could have been the Seahawks playing the Pats in Minnehaha.

The greatest dynasty in the history of the NFL gets ring number 6 unless Philly pulls off a miracle. That's the story. We'll never see the like of Brady and Belichick in our lifetime. The greatest coach and QB to ever play the game.

We lost our chance at greatness and to halt them because Bevell is a clown.

The Giants had Eli, who was a heck of a lot better than Foles.
However, this version of the Patriots is the weakest team they've ever fielded for a SB, imo.

It's the latter that give the Eagles a bit of a shot.
Question is...to take or lay the points. N.E. has only covered the spread 2x as favorites:)
Lots of action on Philly, though, according to various sites (covers.com, sports book reveiew, wagertalk).
We'll see.
One way or another, it seems the possibility of crowning the empire and 'the hoodie' is gonna happen.

One team just happy to be there, and the other team expecting to win. Sorry its going to be the be the Coronation, the one thing the Pats have never had in the SB, a crushing victory. I hope I am wrong but I think It will be 28-0 at the half.

I dunno, obi. I was picking the Pats by two TD's but the more I've been thinking about it, the more I'm starting to move towards Philly. Foles is playing out of his mind and their defense has been very consistent throughout the entire season.

Eagles have a chance if NE is ahead at halftime by 3-7 points. If NE is down by 7-20 Brady will win.

This Super Bowl victory may just go to Philly. I think that Files is the key if he plays lights out football game against the pats then I give them a shot at the victory this year. It will be a good game if Files is on.

Hi Rob! I hope you are right but I am still not watching this game. Meh....I just don’t care who wins honestly. The hubby and I are going to NOLA in March. I cannot wait! If you know of any places to check out, give me a call. :)

I'm not going to watch it like I would any other Super Bowl, rather I'll check in on it every so often to see how it's going.
After a couple of playoff games, it's clear the Pats still get the benefit of calls (and non calls) at critical times.
I'm just getting tired of it.

I've been in a running argument with a friend of mine. He hates commercials so much that he never by choice watches a sporting event live, and the SB is no different. I don't mind watching ordinary run-of-the-mill games in that manner, but high profile games and/or games the Hawks are involved in, I much prefer to watch them live and deal with the commercials by hitting the mute button. I invited him over to my house to watch the game but the wife wants to see the SB commercials so he's steaming about it.

But this year, I am so disinterested in the SB that as long as my wife doesn't object, I'm probably going to let this friend of my have his way.

I don't think anyone outside of the 2 teams areas give a rip and most feel the fix is already in as it has been for over a decade.

Andrea, hit up Lon for info about NOLA, he's been there several times.

I'm not into the conspiracy theories, but I do agree that the Pats have had the benefit of some bad calls going their way during the playoffs, and that doesn't do the league any good when so many people are hoping for them to lose.

But on the other hand, they lost Gronk for over half the AFCCG due to an illegal hit by the opposition. IMO for the life of me, I don't know why the league doesn't insist that the offending player sit for the rest of the game. It only seems fair.

I have a friend who, like me, is really into craft beer and his SB party is packed with good, rare beer. So when I was asked who I'm rooting for, I answered "the beer." I doubt I'll even look at the game unless it's to catch a replay of a play that people were excited about.

Enjoy the game, folks. One way or another, enjoy the game. If it is 28-3 at half time in favor of the Eagles we all know the 2nd. half will be pretty good. On the other hand, if it is 28-3 in favor of the Pats it will be OVER.

Did you know that the Eagles acquired their PK after the season started? They plucked him off of the practice squad of another team after Halloween when their original PK was injured? So, here was an inexpensive replacement for, lets say, BLAIR WALSH and John and Pete just didn't have the stones to make an in season change at the PK position.

Penalty helps stall drive. The Eagles can't beat themselves if they want to win this game. Belicose's gambit works to perfection. He is happy to give up a GF on the opening drive.

Great defensive stand by the Eagle's D! Now, Eagles, you need to take advantage of the missed FG by the Pats.

Nice first half for the Eagles, but, I hope they brought their lunch pail because the second half will be when the Pats will bring it, and the calls will mostly go the Pats way.

Let's hope the Eagles don't start dropping like flies in the second half like the Seahawks weakening their defense and make really dumb calls on offense. Or get too conservative with the lead. Play to win, play to gut the Patriots and beat them into the dirt like the score is tied or you are losing. That's the way you have to play to beat the Patriots. Never let up, never let down.

I like the way the Eagles answered the Pats 2nd. half opening TD with one of their own. So far, no signs of letting up by the Eagles, but like you said, will they hold up? Great game so far imop

OK, this is where "bringing your lunch pail" to a fight means you understand your opponent can take a punch and you can't ever let down, or you will lose.

FLY EAGLES FLY!!! They have set themselves up to win thing game. But, why are they getting so conservative before the 2 min. warning?? I hope they don't go in to a "don't lose" mode and stick with what got them to this point, playing ALL OUT!

It’s amazing to see what those offenses can do with creative coordinators and pass protection. I would love to se RW running the Eagles offense (or the rams, or the Vikes, or the Pats, or the Steelers).

Given nearly every QB that has had to fill in for Brady has done very very well one has to wonder if it is the system or Brady all the time.

Great game by Eagles wire-to-wire.

The dictated pace the entire time, and came out swinging in the 2nd half instead of playing not to lose like a lot of SB underdogs of year's past.

Foles now completes a Disney movie type run to hoist trophy.
Good on Philly.
Well played, well earned.

That last FG absolutely Killed my season ending, all chips in bet, but it doesn't change the fact that this was one of the better games in recent memory, especially under the circumstances. Lots of money on Eagles for some to win this thing SU, I just din't think they'd pull it off. I saw as a 3 pt game either way, with a considerable lean on Patriots to luck their way into another Lombardi. Congrats to all Eagle fans out there.
