John Schneider - is this the year?

JS has never been NFL Executive of the year, despite doing a consistently great job for Seattle. His performance in 2020 is no exception: the draft:

* Jordon Brooks, has emerged as a strong performer and who made two plays in the goal line stand Sunday .
* Alton Robinson had a key sack on Sunday has 4 sacks this season (better than Clowney last year).
* Damion Lewis became an instant starter on the OL has has performed very very well.
* Colby Parkinson has also made plays in recent weeks
* Freddie Swain has been a good return specialist and made some key catches at WR and two fumble recoveries
* DeeJay Dallas has contributed some (108 yards rushing, 2 TD's, 17 receiptions)

So that leaves #2 Darrell Taylor who has had unexpected issues recovering from surgery and Steven Sullivan (still with team, but injured)

And then his trades and moves:

* Putting the Jamal Adams trade together - hard to describe how good this guy is
* Finding D.J. Reed, who has earned a starting spot
* Trading for Carlos Dunlap III - the guy who's ignited our D line
* Greg Olson - has had some issues, but still a contributed

Not everything has worked out, but by any standard a helluva year John!

Be nice to see both Pete and John get some national respect for what they've done. It seems hard to come buy as go with whoever the flavor of the year is.

Oh he wont get it any more than Carroll with all the outstanding teams John put together. But that's the first time i've seen in words what he's done this year, especially on the defensive side lately. Impressive.Couple it with the absolute theft of DK last year and the acquisition of Hyde who had been a spark at times. We are gonna see more of another of his steals Chris Carson. He's been unlucky but when healthy he's as angry a runner as anyone in the league. And with Hyde ill we will see a lot more of Penney who was really coming on last year before his injury. All in all no GM in the last 10 years has done much better putting together a contender every year. This team looks like 2013 or 2014.

Over the course of this season some on this forum have gone from trashing Pete and John to recommending them for sainthood.

Ironic, isn't it? That's why I've pretty much stayed out of the thread.

I have been as critical of PC and JS as anybody. They had a bad off-season in which they had money to spend for the first time in a long time and they didn’t do anything of note with it. They gave up a ton for Adams and although it seems to be working now the jury is still not out on that trade unless 1) we win the SB this year or next year or 2) Adams resigns with us and doesn’t handcuff us financially in the process. Our pass-rush was terrible on paper and in practice to start the season. With that being said the move to bring Dunlap in was brilliant! At the time I thought it was the best in-season trade of the year and I still believe that. Along with the trade our defense has gelled, albeit against most bad offense, but you can’t discredit that turn around. We’ll see what happens if we can somehow recapture aspects of our offense at the beginning of the season and the defensive turn-around withstands the top offenses in the NFL than it will be award worthy for sure.
