Chiefs Release Both Starting OT's

Some of you have predicted that there's going to be a lot of good veteran players available this offseason, and this seems to bear out that theory:

Fisher would be a great get for 2022. His blown achilles in the Championship game might make him miss more than half of 2021 but he's might be worth getting anyway.

Signing players coming off of significant injuries is a big gamble. Especially so for back injuries in my opinion.
Achilles are bad, too but a lot of players come back from that injury and play successfully.
It would be a gamble either way, but it doesn't matter much as we don't have a lot of room to work with Cap wise.

It's telling that we didn't re-sign Pocic at Center but tendered Kyle Fuller who played in 1 game. I suspect Pocic is the next piece to leave.

Schwartz's back injury will drive down his price and limit his options, which could make him more attractive to us. We have a more immediate need at RT, so he'd be a better fit than Fisher would. We might sign him simply to toss a bone to Russell and his camp.

We haven't resigned very many veterans, so not resigning Pocic isn't a huge surprise. I see where we've also tendered Bryan Mone.

This low salary cap is going to hammer teams.

Wow if teams start dumping their high priced players we might see teams looking average across the board and the pricy guys at home collecting unemployment

The result might be a lot of short term contracts so the players can take advantage of next years Cap increase + the new Media deals along with gambling revenues.

Wow. That would be some big holes to fill. Even after releasing Fischer and Schwartz, the Chiefs still aren't under the cap, so that could happen.

Even with Brees' expected retirement, the Saints are still in salary cap hell, so I would expect them to start making some similar moves. The Rams have some decisions to make, too. Teams have until March 17th at 4:00 pm ET to get under the cap.

I saw the other day that the league had a $4 billion drop in revenue, which explains all the bloodshed. A lot of teams were counting on an ever increasing revenue stream and annual raising of the salary cap when they signed those contracts.

A lot of teams are creating Cap space by creating signing bonuses. We haven't done that this year, so I'm wondering if they don't think they need Cap space or don't see players they want as FA's to need more
room, or possibly without Paul Allen and no fans in the stands last year they are short of the cash required to pay out players to create the Cap room.
