Interesting read on RW's private(ish) life

Got a good start on it but I just can't handle that reading pane. All the crap up at the top squashes the view so much that I can't use my scroll wheel to move down the pane without going farther than the bottom of the previous view.

I don't seem to have any problems (Chrome, Win7-64), but I know the feeling when a site is over-designed.

Agreed- I don't think this little glimpse did anything to undermine that much- just shows who he relies on when away from the team.

No surprises in it. Everything conforms to my perception of who Russell Wilson is, and why he is by far my favorite Seahawk since Largent.

It would have been interesting to get a little bit of what life is like for RW as opposed to 4 dudes who, with all due respect, I'm just not that interested in reading about. How about something like " A day in the life" or "How does the NFL's newest star spend his off season?" It didn't seem like the writer spent more than a half hour working on this puff piece.

I don't watch reality TV, or much TV at all outside of sports, nature, and documentaries, so the comparison to "Entourage" meant little to me. I just thought it was very Russellesque for him to maintain his friendships and keep his circle of friends very small. He is or is soon to be a single man without any kids so he needs those guys, someone away from the locker room for him to be able to relax and maintain contact with the real world.

I guess the problem is only on my laptop at home (also Chrome win7-64), here at work (same, but win7-pro) it's fine ... I got a new wireless mouse/keyboard so I don't have to have my laptop heating up my lap at home, guess I need to adjust some settings on my scroll wheel.

As for the article, it was an interesting glimpse into the day to day life more of those few people he trusts more so than Wilson himself. Nothing damning or exalting, but interesting. My favorite part:

Any guy that becomes a name brand has to organize himself in some way. As the article says there are several ways to go. There are also many people out there looking to prey on young athletes. It sounds like Russell had been thinking about how he would organize himself well in advance of actually becoming a name brand. I found his choices very interesting and frankly, mine would not vary greatly if I was in his position. I hope his friends can handle it, that is quite a schedule he is trying to keep.

I don't like to speculate too much, but I wonder if this was part of what his wife had difficulties with. Maybe she never envisioned marrying a guy that travels non-stop in the off season and has his 4 closest buddies living in his house. As Oprah put it - some people just run out of oxygen as you climb the mountain.

+1 RD. He and Largent are cut from the same cloth. Guys who lack the measurables but out study and outwork everyone else to be the best. And they do it with complete class and integrity.
