Carroll started it in the NFL about 4 years ago when they brought their program here to Seattle.
These other coaches are doing similar, but different things - but changes the status quo had been occurring slowly until Carroll started here.
Naturally, in the NFL teams look at what successful franchises do and use it to adapt to their systems.
Kelly in Philly with his program seemed to make these different approaches more visible to more fans and reporters and now they are catching on in differing forms throughout the league.

I would guess in a few years every team will have their own way of doing things that are very different from a few years back.
If it makes the product on the field better, then it's a plus for all football fans.
