Yes - surprised - He was the guy that complained publicly to the press about how Chip Kelly was over-working the players in practice. Chip was glad to get rid of him because he did not fit the culture and for Chip culture is everything. Does not sound like the profile of the Current Seahawk player. However, John & Pete have shown excellent judgement in talent so benefit of the doubt goes to them.

His criticism of Chip Kelly's practice doesn't worry me that much. It seems like there were a lot of guys that felt the same way, and he wasn't giving them adequate time off. He had them practicing the day after games sometimes. He wasn't responsive to players needing rest, something that PC excels at IMO. His numbers back up the fact that he is a good corner, honestly he might be better than Maxwell, especially in our system with the leagues best free-safety helping over the top. In FA I would rather take a guy like Williams who had a 'bad' season but played on a terrible D with poor safety play than a guy like Maxwell who played on a great D with a HOF worthy safety, especially when their contracts are considered.

I'll reserve judgment, but have not been uber impressed. I realize we have been spoiled to some degree in the secondary and we MUST do something to address Tharold's slow rise (if he ever gets it) and injuries to everyone else (actually including Tharold) in the secondary. I know I sound like a broken record and worrying about the future is not my job, but the way our D flies around and creams people, I suspect their collective career length may be abbreviated. Outside of Sherm's injury in Super Bowl 48, fellas were always relatively healthy. Now, the only healthy member of the LOB is going to sign a deal in Philly in about 4 hours. So Will Blackmon and this Williams character may work out fine for depth, but I ain't feeling them as starters. Maybe I'm totally wrong. As was pointed out, John and Pete are slightly better at talent evaluation than I am. (just barely )

The numbers we are paying Williams mean that we intend for him to start, although PC probably wouldn't ever say it publically the whole competition montra. That is not to say that if a better option presented itself (an improved Simon, or maybe a draft pick, or whatever) we wouldn't start them instead, but I would imagine at this point we are planning on him starting.

Yeah, that's what I meant when I said if somebody outplays him we would start them instead. PC is always going to be about competition and I think it is true, but you don't pay a CB 7 mil/year without the thought that he probably is going to be your starter, but like I said if somebody outplays him in camp an improved Simon or a draft pick or whoever then I am sure PC would start them.

Tall, long, quick, fits the mold to a tee.
He is a better cover man than Browner was, and with some work, will probably be even better than Maxwell in terms of coverage. He's thinner and less strong than those two but he's quicker...sort of a trade off there I'd say.

I like this move quite a bit. The price was right, and he'll do just fine replacing Maxwell.

After watching some highlight video, I am more comfortable with the signing. A lot of defensive backs would look better with Earl and Kam supporting them. This may be a good thing.

That is exactly how I feel, he fits our mold and will look really good knowing he has help over the top and somebody that strikes the fear of God into the receiver if he crosses the middle.

This coaching staff helped turn a 5th round pick into the best corner in the game. A undrafted free agent into a pro-bowler. And a 6th round pick into a $40 million free agent. Plus Thurman and Lane. I'm guessing they'll be able to help clean up some of Williams' bad habits.

He wasn't my first choice but he's shown starting potential on another team, why wouldn't he be better for the Seahawks?
