Schneider and Compensatory picks

Postby NorthHawk » Sat Mar 14, 2015 11:28 am

Here is an article about how John views the Compensatory picks and his history.
It's an interesting article about what they have done and are doing.
It also sheds some light about how he also approaches FA and why we don't always go after big names early.

Edit:
Here's another article that discusses comp picks as well as having links to Cap space and FA rules.

Thanks for the links. Those are the questions I had. If it works out that way they will have 7 important mid round picks. Thats where teams are built. I was hoping a 3rd for Tate & NYJ would keep Harvin... Wishful thinking. I told my nephew after last year FA losses they should clean up in conpensatory picks. Comp picks cant be traded but, it give them flexability with the others.

I'm assuming that the Comp picks are added in order of the draft (without trades).
Considering we are drafting at 31 each round, we should only have a few spots between selections at the end of each round we have an extra pick.

With all of the FA changes this year, it will be interesting to see what happens with these types of selections.
I suspect the lesser successful teams will be picking up most of the FAs so most of the Comp picks will end up with the successful teams.

What I found interesting was how much JS wants these extra picks and it clears up why we rarely go for top FAs as this would impact the number and quality of our Comp picks.
