That's the price of success in today's NFL.
In the days prior to free agency, teams could stockpile talent like JJ and good players that could start on half the teams in the league might go the better part of their career seeing nothing but mop up duty because they were playing behind a HOF starter. I can remember reading an article about an original Seahawk by the name of Bob Lurtzema, a.k.a. "Benchwarmer Bob", a career backup to players like Alan Page and Jim Marshall of the Purple People Eaters, that spoke to that dilemma.
