Doesn't look like enough to get him into ant trouble, but damn, the time to walk away is as soon as anything happens, no reason to give the haters any excuse.

Thats the nagging worry with the Beast. I understand, hes from the mean streets of Oakland but come on man, keep it cool.

There was a little bit of a contradictory statement that he was trying to pull his friend away from the guy, but got a few shots in as well.
What was it, pulling him away or taking a few punches?

Edit:
I'm just glad nobody had a gun.

TMZ said "an eye witness" told them Marshawn threw punches, but there's certainly no evidence of it. I'll believe the video before I take the word of a Niners fan ... unless they come up with video proof it's hearsay and too unreliable for anyone but TMZ.

I saw the vid. It was hilarious that random patrons were yelling"thats Beast Mode! Don't mess with Beast Mode!!!!"
Indeed..... plenty of defenders have had the same discussion LOL.

Old but Slow wrote:It is one of the problems with being a public figure and a popular athlete. Some mouth breather trying to make his name by getting into it with a famous player. Marshawn was smart to find an escape from the situation. From the poor video it looked more like he was trying to help his friend than he was to punish someone.

All the more reason to use good judgment in the public places they choose to frequent and the time of day they choose to patronize them. We all remember what happened to Ken Hamlin. I'm not necessarily casting doubt on Beast's judgment as I know next to nothing about this incident, just making a general statement that may or may not apply here.

Old but Slow wrote:And with old friends, it is difficult to avoid going to the old hang outs and trying to be normal. Still in his twenties, it is easy to see why Marshawn would want to connect with his people and hang out. I have no problem with that. What is he to do? Stay at home, go to church, run his camps, cook dinner?

He is a young man, he has energy, he wants to have a good time with his friends. Let him have some space. And if a side-winder comes along, hopefully he has the technique to maneuver away. We want our heroes to be paragons, but they are just young people. Rock on.

The idea that our sports heroes must never show flaws does not reflect reality. Our athletes are real people. They make mistakes, they stumble, but that does not make them bad people. And as long as they can make a first down, I have no problem.

I have mixed feelings. Yes, well known professional athletes like Beast are caught in a difficult situation. If they do not go to the old hang outs and try to be normal, they risk alienating their former friends and being tagged as being uppity, forgetting where they came from, and spoiled by success. I know I would be very sensitive to such an accusation if I were in a similar situation.

But on the other hand, I do think that they need to be realistic and recognize the truth in that their fame/fortune has permanently changed them and that they cannot turn the clock back to the old days when they were just "one of the guys" and do everything and go everywhere they used to in their younger days. Hopefully their old friends and associates understand the dilemma players like Beast now find themselves in.

You can't always live in fear of confrontation. It sort of goes counter to the mentality the Marshawn has. Avoiding things (aside from speaking with the press) does not appear to be in his make-up. Anyway, the minute you start avoiding public places because there could be the chance for asshattery is when you start to second guess every situation and never go out in public.
You can't live your life like that. You can only hope to make solid decisions in case they occur. From what I could tell it looked like Lynch did just that.
