"If" they have determined that Suh is one of those truly special players then you can also be sure that they have already determined a contract price and terms that they will be offering him if he does hit free agency.
The Miami Dolphins also are expected to make a run at Suh, who has made it clear he wants to land the biggest contract for a defensive player in NFL history and could be swayed by the fact that Florida has no state taxes to take out of eight game checks a year.
Indianapolis, the New York Giants and Washington are among other teams linked to Suh.
"Suh has let it be known that his agent's going to determine where he goes," said Louis Riddick, an ESPN analyst and the former director of pro personnel with Washington and Philadelphia. "An agent's No. 1 marching order is to maximize cash to his player, so Suh is going to get a record contract. And it'll be well north of $50 million in guaranteed money and will probably push high into the teens as far as average per year, approaching quarterback money, on an average-per-year basis."
