What a turkey of a game the NFL picked for Thanksgiving night.

Bears at Packers.

Seriously?

I like the Bye Week at the halfway point, but three 10am games are pretty rough.

Agree, Northhawk. I can't stand those 10 am games: almost always a slow start for the West Coast teams, and then they play catch-up in the second half. Fortunately, I think Pete Carroll has done his best to downplay the impact, but I just saw Bruce Arians talk about the Cards' schedule, and he alluded to the 10 am games being a concern. Anyway ... that's all the wanking I have for this sched. Tough sched ... but I'm looking forward to our Seahawks overcoming the challenges, as they have demonstrated their ability to do over the past few years.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!

I was hoping to go to the Baltimore game, but not sure I want to go back there in the middle of December... for a night game, no less.

I like the schedule... it could of been a lot worse.

I like how they spread out our division games a little more this year. That Packers game as a back-to-back Mid Eastern games is not going to be easy.
Three home games in a row coming off the bye week. That's a long stretch.

And an odd one for TV coverage, with CBS doing the all NFC Seahawks-Bears game.

How? the only team they left off JH is the Pats, how could it be worse??

As much as I can asses a schedule this early I like this one.Great bye week, 5 prime time games, more than 1 home prime time game, 5 of the last 8 games at home, only 3 10am starts (although this team has done a pretty good job of winning those games). This is the best I have felt about a schedule this early in a long time.

They didn't 'give us' any of the teams we play. Those are all based on a rotation and the previous years divisional finish. We earned our opponents and I hope we get that first place schedule every year.

I find this schedule to be quite nice as it stands right now. I am also tired of the 10 am starts but not only because of the team necessarily , but because cracking open a beer so early just don't feel right! :D

I like the bye in middle of the schedule, but what stood out for me is the Steelers finally have to travel to Seattle this year. I will be there for that game! I had to look back to see the last time they travelled to Seattle. it was 12 years ago. We won that game. In fact, the Steelers have only won once in Seattle, back in 1983 and that was a close game.

BINGO! Keeping in mind that the last half of the schedule last season seemed VERY daunting and by the time it came around, the Niners were a shell of their former selves and we faced back-up QBs and ran the table. One never knows, some of those games we have circled as a win now could be against a surprise 11 and 3 team. But for now, outside of starting two games that have proven to be tough for us (on the road (Rams and Packers)), I think this is a nice blend. No real gauntlets (at least for now), mid-season bye week, 5 prime-time games (isn't Pete like 90+% in prime time?)

Feeling pretty good about the schedule. NOW GO SIGN Russell!

We have the 4th hardest in the league. Not sure why you guys are celebrating. Mark Schlereth, predicts 11-5. All the losses on the road.

Again there is nothing that we can do about the toughness of our schedule. Who we play was decided as soon as the regular season ended. It is based on the divisional rotations and divisional finishes from last year. It's not like the teams we play were all randomly selected and we somehow got the 4th toughest schedule. If that were the case, yeah this would suck, but that's not the case so we're happy that we don't have (at least as things look right now) a really hard stretch or an early bye or all of our divisional games at the end of the season or most of our away games at the end of the season. We are also happy we get multiple home prime time games (we had only 1 last year), we get 5 prime time games (only 4 last year), and we have a good bye week (we had a bye in week 4 last year). So based on things that we could hope for yesterday (not who we played because that was already decided) it is pretty good.

We are one of the BEST teams in the league, if not the best. The 4th hardest schedule means nothing, really at this point (see my point above about the end of the season gauntlet that ended up being us playing second and third (even 4th) string QBs). Rosters are not even rounded out yet and then there are usually 5 - 10 key injuries that change the trajectories of 5-10 teams (hopefully not ours). And...JUST. LIKE. THAT....the 4th hardest schedule becomes the hardest or the 21st hardest.

Additionally, this is not your 1990's Seahawks, all due respect to those guys. Our D has been top 5 in all categories for at least three years running. Our offense has been getting more and more consistent over the last three years and just got better with Jimmy. Pete has systematically exorcised old demons (cannot win on the road, cannot win at 10:00 a.m., cannot win playoff games, cannot win the big one, cannot XY and Z.) These guys can. These guys are # 1 in jersey sales. YOUR very own Seattle Seahawks are # freakin' one in jersey sales with Russell leading all sales and 3 of the top 10 highest all being Seahawks. This is a new era...this schedule scares me not!!!!!!!!!

We have to play who we have to play. I'd rather play Green Bay in GB in September than December. I'd rather have the bye in the middle of the season. I'd rather not have stretches and stretches of away games against uber tough opponents. With who we were slated to play, the when, the bye, and the night time games seem to lean in our favor. Just my .02

Obi,

I wasn't referring to the teams we have to play as we have no control over that, but to the schedule itself. 4 weeks in the middle to recover is a pretty nice stretch for any team.

Some points about the hand wringing about our schedule:

Unlike a number of teams, we have not had to sacrifice a home game for those insidious games held in London, nor have we been asked to participate as a visiting team. This is an advantage to a team like us that has such a dominant HFA. This year, the league is mandated that three games be held across the pond. Kansas City Chiefs fans, some of the most loyal and passionate fans in the league, are being required to sacrifice a home game. Think of the outraged 12's that would be screaming conspiracy had that been us that was told to sacrifice a home game for the supposed good of the league.

Handicapping a schedule this far out is very problematic. Teams turn over with regularity. Last year's champs often times turn out to be this year's chumps. Last year was an anomaly where both SB teams made the playoffs in the following season.

Opening on the road vs. the Rams could be a good thing. The Rams will be breaking in a new quarterback and we've played very well in season openers. Being that it's the first game of the year, we should have Okung completely healthy. Getting the Pack early could be a good thing, too, as they seem to start slow (remember Aaron Rodgers "relax" comment?).

We have 9 games against 2014 playoff qualifiers. As some have stated, it's entirely luck of the draw as it was our division's turn to play all 4 teams in the AFC Central and NFC Central, both with two playoff participants, and our own division had two playoff qualifiers. Our division as a whole has the toughest schedule of any of the league's divisions. The Niners schedule is tougher than ours as they play 4 divisional games against 2014 playoff participants whereas we only play two (against the Cards).

Our bye week comes smack dab in the middle of the season in Week 9. Not bad considering where it was last season.

My only concern about the early games is that Earl and Kam may not be a full go yet, at least not Earl. We are gonna need him against the Packers. We have to suffer through injuries to key players just like everyone else does.

I agree with RD, just like I didn't get all that worked up about last year's schedule ( with the exception of back to back 10 am games) though the total of the playoff teams from those divisions is actually five (3 from AFC North, 2 from NFC North) . I didn't like the lack of home PT games but whatever, at least the bye comes at a MUCH better time.

Post of the month so far as I am concerned!

Years back I was telling people that we needed to get out of the "just hoping to fly under the radar mentality, to start expecting to not just win, but DOMINATE. I was telling people that in order to be the best, you have to beat the best, you have to talk the talk, walk the walk, and do it all while the whole world is watching. THAT is when you know you really truly made it. When you tell the world that you'll take on all comers, and then proceed to dismantle them all as they come.
When the schedule comes out and it looks tough, that's not a bad thing, that's a good thing! It means that our team in on the top of the pile right now.
When that schedule gets easier again, that's when you'll hear me start to complain about things, because it means that the record wasn't very good the year before.

Digging a little deeper into the schedule - this person has identified something that I have not seen yet:

The Seahawk's will play 4 teams coming off their Bye Weeks - That gives these 4 teams two weeks to prepare for their games against the Hawks:

A 5th team - The Rams - will get 10 days to prepare for their game against the Hawks.

Postby Hawk Sista » Fri Apr 24, 2015 4:21 pm

Thanks, Monkey. I agree. 1. There is no easy NFL schedule, and 2.we used to play a lesser schedule and that was because we were a lesser team. I heard an interview with Schneider recently where he basically said that he and Pete took the team over in 2010 and said we want to become the tough team. We want to be the team that goes anywhere, anytime and has the toughness to make others worry. He said the team was void of that back then (hence all the roster moves). Their whole goal was to build a team of Kam's and Beasts who strike fear into their opponents, the way that Pittsburgh and B-More did consistently at that time. I'd say they have achieved that; the trick is to keep us here.

Savvy, the data on victories off the bye really depends on the team. In our own NFC west since 2003, however, there have been more losses than wins after the BYE week. Perhaps that is skewed because the division sucked for awhile, but it is something to consider. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/trend/ ... _after_bye

The bye weeks are one of the few variables in the schedule that can be complained about. The other is the sequence in which the schedule is arranged, ie consecutive long distance road games, short turnarounds, that type of thing. And even those decisions are usually based on factors beyond the league's control, such as whether a home team has to share a parking lot with an MLB team.

One thing I do wish they'd try to do with the schedule is try to avoid daytime starts in September in locations like San Diego and the Florida teams, with open air stadiums in areas susceptible to high temperatures and/or humidity. They used to do so when Arizona played in an open air stadium.

Gonna have to be Road Warriors during the 1st half of the season.
Opening with 2 straight away games provides an early test.
Defenses are typically ahead of offense for the 1st few games, and Stl has a great one up front, though I see Foles having trouble squaring off against ours as well.

GB Sunday night - great matchup - and I like us in primetime.

We are as good if not better than every opponent on our schedule.
One game at a time.
It's that mindset that helped us reach the SB last season, and it's the Rx again for getting to another...
