Gosh, I didn't realize that my preoccupation with typing out that score would cause such a commotion.

Future, getting beat 34-0 in the first game in your brand new, billion dollar plus stadium? It would have been less embarrassing had you walked out to the alter on your wedding day with your fly unzipped.

Hahaha. No, it's the PNW's preoccupation with hating the 49ers that causes the uproar. If one of our guys farts during an interview, I am sure someone will put up a thread to discuss what a joke our franchise is, was and will always be. Merril Streep's attraction for Michael Douglass ain't got nothing on you guys!

But seriously, I got Sea 20 GB 12. Obviously I am hoping for a different outcome, but Rodger's 8 first half sacks at Clink ladt time is still fresh in my mind.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, we're persnickity like that, when a fan base comes onto every possible forum and calls us bandwagon, dismisses any accomplishments, spouts off about rings gained twenty years ago, and claims that their success was vastly superior to ours ( I mean after all it only took SF to win a championship 36 years LOL which is longer than it took Seattle to at least APPEAR in a championship game) we tend to "dislike " them. We're a funny group like that, you know, waiting, watching supporting a team for decades and then have all their accomplishments dismissed due to a longer, not better history. Tends to rile some of us up, especially after listening to all those ramblings when we were running roughshod over the division for about a decade with the "you haven't accomplished anything" crap. Only to once again hear the SAME drivel once we "have" I guess accomplished something. It's like me telling my son I'm better, because I'm older, and lived more hours at anything and everything, something tells me he would "hate" me too.

There's reason for the genuine dislike, and I've simply scratched the surface....

Ya it goes both ways. I think every fanbase hates a division rival. Or any team that gets good for that matter. I could've cared less about the Packers until Brett Farve came along and kept whooping us. After listening to their fans taunt for so long, after a while I did begin to hate them.

I will honestly say I have never seen anything like the PNW hate of the 49ers in any pro sports rivaley that I've been a part of. As I've stated before, there were obvious geographical and social/political differences that created our rivalries with the Raiders and the Cowboys. Same with the Giants/Dodgers. The Seattle thing I just don't get. We are like sister cities with no longstanding anything. Two westcoast liberal port cities. We are more similar than we are different, but it 'feels' as though Seattleites really push the opposite agenda - that they and their team are the polar opposite of us.

My guess is this; aside from the points I've touched on before regarfing Californisn's driving up real estate values and bringing crime and a perceived lack of moral values to their region, Seattle has always been an intensely provincial vity that prides itself on being "the best". The best quality of life, best landmark, the most educated, etc. Due to their geograghy, they often feel slighted, as if the rest of the country is unaware of what is going on up there. You mix all of that with the team from down south owning 5 Lombardi's, and it's a major challenge to the notion thst Seattle is "the best". Seattleites want that mantle, for thw entire west coast (if not the country), and they are going to make damn sure everyone knows. Especially those of us in the bay area.

Do in a nutshell, to me it is about a lot more than football. I guess that is why I get so annoyed by the football rivalry thing. Hey, I love your city and have visited over 40 times. Don't treat me like the friggin' enemy ;).

Stop being ridiculous Future. The Seahawks hate of the 49ers is no where near the Raiders fans hate of the Broncos or the SF fans hate of the Cowboys when that was a rivalry, Bears fans hate of the of the Packers, Miami fans hate of the Jets, Jets fans hate of the Patriots, Bengals fans hate of the Steelers, Cowboys fans hate of the Redskins, Eagles and Redskin fans hate of the Cowboys.

The Seahawks vs. 49ers is the best rivalry in the NFL right now... It's no where near historical. And although you like to think that the Seahawks and their fans are preoccupied with the 49ers they aren't. I don't hate them any more than I hated the Rams when the 49ers were the dregs of the division. And if you took a straw poll of Seahawk fans you're going to find that given a choice between the two teams just as many Seahawk fans still hate the Steelers more than the 49ers.

It's sad that you keep pushing this idea. Trying to hold onto some measure of perceived superiority under the delusion that Seattle fans are obsessed with the 49ers while the 49ers couldn't care less about the Seahawks. I've been to the 49ers webzone they talk about the Seahawks as much as we talk about the 49ers and they spew a lot more irrational eptithets and gross underselling of Seahawk player abilities than we do here about the 49ers. Attributing all Seahawk success to PEDs or like you do pretending the Seahawks DBs hold on every play to make yourselves feel better about being physically beaten at your own style.

Yes we like to needle you because all of your bluster and bravado when you thought you were the superior franchise and jumped the gun on thinking you were running the division. And that's all it really is for the most part.

This is true, at least from my perspective. Heck, I actually rooted for the Niners in SB XLVII, as I felt that it would enhance our rivalry, something we've been lacking ever since realignment. If you want to know the truth, my least favorite NFL team is the Cowboys, mainly because of their owner, partly because of their Texas arrogance..remember CP?

Same. The teams I dislike the most in order are:

Cowboys (a result of "lifetime" Cowboy Fans from NY to LA who have never set foot in Texas)
Washington (a result of living in DC amidst a rabid, insufferable and delusional fanbase)

There are no other teams that I completely enjoy every single failure and loss like those two. Then it's.

Broncos (Old Rivalry)
Raider (Old Rivalry)
Rams (Still can't stand Torry Holt)
49ers

Your team doesn't rate nearly as high on the hate-o-meter as you'd like to believe. They are simply the biggest rival now.

Ah, are we talking about teams, or fan bases? If it's teams, SF isn't really top of my list either, fan bases is an entirely different story, maybe it is personal experiences, but SF sits clearly at number one in regards to most disliked fan bases, and did BEFORE Seattle ever stepped into the NFC West, where as, I don't carry much disdain for fan bases like the Steelers.

Oh if we're doing fan bases it might be a little higher but not that much. Fan bases.

Cowboys
Washington
Raiders
Giants/Jets (basically New Yorkers)

Then maybe SF... but I doubt we're talking about fanbases because right now there are probably no more hated fans than Seahawk fans so Future's comments would really make no sense if that's what he was talking about.

Huh, my top five most hated fan bases go:

1) SF
2) Dallas
3) SF
4) SF
5) Denver/SF
the top ten is a bit more diverse, but the theme remains the same :)

This ties in nicely

"Levi's Stadium has no parking, and there is one road to get to it. One. That road is shared with an amusement park, one solely populated by roving packs of 19-year-old gangsters who. Skydiving will be the most efficient way to attend a 49er game, provided you have the room on your credit card to afford seats. And if you thought it took a long time to get out of Candlestick, woooboy are you in for a treat. I guarantee that all season ticket holders will be back on the road by the second quarter.

I worked upwards of fifty games at Candlestick over the years, first as a paramedic in the early 2000's and then as a cop. Every year, that place got worse. The stadium itself was literally covered in mold. People would be so drunk/high/what-have-you that their pants would be falling off or they would just decide to whip their penises out and pee in Bud Light Plaza before kickoff. You would step in vomit at least twice a game and see two men in a knife fight in the parking lot both wearing niner jerseys without fail.

People think that the new stadium is going to clean out the riffraff from the crowd, because it's in San Louis Obispo and crazy expensive. They are right. It will, for exactly one season. Then, when nobody goes to that place because of the nightmare it will be going to and from it, the Niners will have some crazy cheap seat deal and it will be Dirt Weed Thunderdome again. People will be throwing ninja stars at Seahawks fans from the upper decks. Mark my word.

Our coach was on Saved by the Bell.

And this gem LOL

"Our quarterback is a game of blackjack. There is always the possibility of hitting 21 but it's more likely that he busts when it's first and goal from the five in the Super Bowl, or when he is driving against the most unlikeable team this side of Ferguson PD Softball for another shot at a championship. Our running back is too accomplished to bench but too slow to win a middle school track meet. Our best defensive player's leg snapped in half and won't be back until we are at least 2 games behind the Seahawks. Our young defensive stud is about to be suspended for maybe 8 games and couldn't go through an airport security line sober enough to not yell "bomb" like a effing six-year-old with conduct disorder. Our front office's plan for the secondary this offseason was, "Let's get way worse."

The real reason we suck are the fans. I am a 24 year old Niner fan, and whenever my roommate, who is a Seahawk fan and therefore the absolute worst right now, mentions the Super Bowl last year, I point out how historic and wonderful my Niners are. To be clear, I was 5 during the last Super Bowl they won and have lived most of my life watching them fail miserably.

The older Niner fans are even worse. These are people that watched Joe Montana crush, so when it comes to quarterbacking they still believe that innocent white Alex Smith is better than Kaepernick. Kaepernick has his flaws, but at least he can grip a ball in the rain and win a 12-year-old punt pass and kick competition. These people see tattoos on a quarterback and in true San Francisco fashion are able to come up with more entrepreneurial ways to say ,"He's too black to WIN!"

f*** Richard Sherman, but really f*** the Niners for making him a thing.
