A Question of Heart

I've noticed that with each passing week, there seems to be this attitude of some folks here that as it becomes more apparent that the magic moments that seemed to happen at just the right time in the past fail to manifest themselves, the bitterness, name calling, blame laying game gains momentum. The media generated reports out there signifying the dissension among the ranks in the locker room, Lynch vs Carroll, RW not being "Black" enough, etc., have gone a long ways to create the view that this team is nothing more than a bunch of me first millionaires who expect their 2nd Lombardi to simply be handed to them at the years end. We here know that this is not the case. Further, we know that this team has relied on the man next to them to step up & perform to help the team win. I get the feeling that this team has lost sight of these axioms. IMHO, Coach Pete's philosophy could use a refresher course this week. This upcoming game vs the Cardinals is, due to the current W-L record, public opinion, & in house distractions, a pivotal game in this season. If there's anything I've seen in these past weeks, it's that this team has not leaned on each other & displayed a team first mentality as much as they've done in the past. It is time to do so once again. It is time to make our own luck. Reach down inside, & utilize the heart you've shown in the past to get this squad where you need to be. A convincing win at home this week against the Cardinals is just what the Dr ordered to snuff out the BS in the media, turn the season back to where it needs to be to continue the winning ways that is presently the definition of the Seattle Seahawks. 7-4 & beyond.

I've been saying all week that this really is a "must win" for the Seahawks, mainly because it allows us greater flexibility to control our own destiny. Fall to 6-5, and we're looking at a 4-1 finish to just have a shot at the postseason.

Lots of other factors come into play, naturally, and losing by no means eliminates us. But with Det, GB, Dal, and Philly all a game ahead, and with us having the most difficult remaining schedule in the NFL, we need to win out at home and get one (hopefully two) away from The Clink.

In terms of the media stuff, yea, we've been picked on a bit. We've also seen some PI style bitterness spill over into this forum, too, with the most popular thread currently being the, "I'd trade Wilson for Luck", that's now accumulated 200+ posts.

Just by mentioning it, I may have already highjacked this thread after one reply:)

Honestly, though, those kinds of debates are pointless, as they become mean spirited and spiteful rather quickly.

I'm hoping that we have a win to focus on after this Sunday, and start to bury worthless threads that end up creating forum resentments..

I agree that the RW for Luck thread & others like it are places that are negative & produce ill feelings among those who choose to debate those issues there. However, I do miss the imbicilic posts of fans of other teams that used to come on the PI board & spew insults. I loved shredding those idiots before, & after the game. Seeing things the way they are this season is why I can't help feeling that there's a gap that not just losing, but the way we've lost some games that exists. Winning a game like this upcoming game will go a long way to resolving these issues. Winning cures all ills, as they say. GO SEAHAWKS!!

I dunno. I'm just can't get into threads that have such a bogus or unrealistic premise to begin with. I just want to be able to talk about a win after this Sunday. One week at a time, we have to keep our season alive to get into the playoffs.

If Seattle does get in, watch out.

I'm telling you now, teams like the Lions and Cowboys are Prime to be one-and-done, even if they host matchup. And with Palmer out, I don't think Stanton will take them far, even though they could end up with HFA. The Packers are tough, but defense is still vulnerable.

I just wanna see the Seahawks get in. Playoff experience counts for a lot in terms of handling the pressure, and our team knows how to do it, especially after finally winning a SB last season. I don't know about SF. They aren't the same team they were a year ago, just like us.

The schedule for AZ when they see Seattle twice in the next 5 weeks looks just as scary to them as us. Ditto for the 9ers. Eagles wont be licking their chops either. Rams unfortunately wont give a shart and will fake a punt from their 3.

This is a huge game right here. Last season Seattle almost stumbled at the end of the regular season and played herky jerky in the playoffs. Then they spent 2 weeks hearing how Denver was going to slice and dice them. Then they went off. Last home game they went off in the 4th quarter. They are due to tee off on someone at the Clink and I hope its Sunday. If they are the type of guys I think they are they will do it.It will make the last 5 a lot more fun, especially Thanksgiving.

Well, Vegan, thanks for starting off a philosophy course thread with a little bit of rah-rah razzmatazz.

It's like "pick your premise, and explain how you got there".

First, you cannot dismiss luck.

Anybody with a tag like "vegas" there is the good stuff and the bad stuff, and last year they got more of the good stuff and this year they got two apologies from the NFL for inept officiating having affected the outcome of the game.

But, also true, you make your own luck.

The Scheid and PC had been on a roll since they teamed up to create a positive, quick turnaround seldom seen in NFL history.

And, don't kid yourself, the idea of a "dynasty" has not been dashed ... even Genghis Khan had bad years ... and Alexander the Great, well look what happened to him.

Even TV drama heroes make comebacks.

So, Harvin happened to he front office, and that seemed to have started the recent "dissension" avalanche. The front office lost a lot on that roll.

I believe the slide has already slowed as key players come back from an extended break.

Last year, after the mysterious "condition" of Michael Robinson, which was not elaborated on for weeks as if he had already been purged to limbo, I believe an important paste helping hold the mentality in some unified, dynamic liquid state. At that time, and now, I think the team made a mistake in not adding him to the coaching staff.

You may not have liked "The Real Rob Report", but in perspective look at the Lynch portrayal in that series and melt into current reports of MikeRob serving as a conduit for The Beast.

See, you just don't know ... you never know.

Isn't anyone confused by the fact that Vegas opened odds this week with the Hawks a 5 1/21 point favorite?

How often do you see a team teetering on a precipice picked as such a solid favorite to spin quickly and slice the wings off the bird faster than the turkey you will be eating later this week?

But, as to our very own "vegas", sittin round de campfire eatin' beans and taters in our little shack, I salute his sagacity in saying "HAWKS WIN" in a very philosophic way thanky.

As to the rare sighting of trolls, their existence, as well as economics, closed the door on the PI Forum.

I do not welcome them back in a large public square, but prefer discussion in this here small shack even if there are occasional ill winds blowing in, along with stupidity, including my own.

WE DO NOT KNOW SQUAT about the reality of this team's locker room, nor their individual motivation, nor a new glue which may finally be settling.

Harvin is gone, the Beast is sometimes speaking something, Wagner is scheduled back, Chancellor is supposedly "100 per cent", it will be raining, and the 12's will be yelling on the edge.

It ain't over yet.

Yah, we have lost some talent and depth along the DL, but I think the OP is correct in that last year the breaks did happen at the right time for us.
That's what seems to happen to Super Bowl winners - they stay generally healthy and make the big plays or get the good bounces at the right time.
That's not happening much this year and our record shows it but it could all turn around next game and we could get on a roll.

Agreed. The guys who are left have the heart of a lion. Thats why they are even above water with all the FO losses, the Harvin DISASTER, all the press stories about Wilson and Lynch etc and then all the injuries. They are only a few plays from being in the drivers seat. I just have a feeling they are going to twist the ratchet of pressure up on the Cards and make the last 5 very interesting. I hope so I'm a 12 tomorrow. My goal is to basically be unable to speak by Monday morning after an epic Hawks blowout and a night of partying and celebrating with my best friend in the world. That was 2 years ago at this game. Last year same game not good. We are due to defend our turf against the Tards. Go Hawks F$%K the Tards.
