Black Monday

Who gets the axe? Cleveland jumped the gun and fired their coach after just one year.
Shanahan is rumored to be done in DC. Ryan was re-affirmed and will stay with the Jets.

I don't think we'll see as many HC's fired as in years past.

Shanny & son are toast. So is Dallas defensive coordinator. I think Arthur Blank will want a scapegoat for the underperformance of the Falcons but I dont think Smith will be fired. Maybe the OC there. Other teams who might have coaching vacancies include Tampa Bay, & Detroit.

Frazier is probably hot seat, if not gone.

He's Tony Dungy without all the gaudy wins or superstar QB. But he was instrumental in the offloading of Harvin. Someone should hire him for that reason alone. He's a frikin' genius. ; )

Seems like the same list...year in, year out.Can always count on the Browns, Raiders, Redskins, and Jets changing coaches. Glad we have PC!

Good point...and not so coincidently, none of those teams ever have a franchise type QB. And still don't (intentional jab at Griffin). Though I do think Ryan is (somewhat) safe @ NYJ.

Schwartz is probably gone in Detroit. I wouldn't be terribly shocked if Coughlin resigned. He's getting up there in years.

Great calls on both, RD. Schwartz, IMO, is definitely gone and I think the NYG gig will be up to Coughlin. They'd be crazy to fire him, knowing their next coach would always be looking over his shoulder and the guy changed his entire approach to the game, proving he could evolve, so I don't think the age factor plays a role with them...it might with him.

Shanaha just got axed and so did Frazier

Cowboys need to blow up their management team as well. Kiffin is gone, OC and Garrett SHOULD be gone, but as we know Jerry Jones only wants yes men as coaches, so they will probably stay. And they will probably finish at 8-8 next year as well. And Romo? If I were a true Cboy fan I'd want him gone as well, but anyway.
Tampa Bay huh? I don't see it, but I am not clairvoyant.

Schiano at TB is gone according to PFT.

Regarding the Cowboys, Jones wants to run the show and few other HCs would want to be the puppet and take the hit to his reputation or record when the 'wizard' behind the curtain is making the decisions.

Schwartz is gone in Detroit. No big surprise, the Lions lost 6 of their last 7. They had a heckuva an opportunity with both Cutler and Rodgers out for significant time and the calamity going on with MN's QB situation.

I'm surprised Schwartz wasn't gone last year.
He's stabilized the program, but hasn't been able to take the next step even with the other teams in his division stumbling.

Two coaches I figured to be gone was Garrett in Dallas and Ryan with the Jets. It's playoffs or bust for both in 2014.

What self respecting coach would go to Dallas knowing that he will be publicly second guessed and overruled by the owner/GM?
It can ruin an established coaches career and undermines the respect from the players.
Maybe some younger coach who might not otherwise get an opportunity would bite but would that help the team?

That's what I thought prior to Parcells going there. I never in my wildest dreams thought he'd lower his standards and work for the most meddling owner in recent NFL history, but he did. Apparently money talks.

Had to happen. Any time you're the Coordinator of the leagues leading unit (offense or defense) you're gonna get interest as a head coaching candidate.

You would think teams would realize that this Defense is designed and greatly influenced by the HC Pete Carroll.
That they could go from Bradley to Quinn and not lose a step in the transition means it is the infrastructure that's in place that leads to the Defensive success.
Not trying to minimize Quinns ability, but it seems a little early to think he could be a successful HC candidate.
Maybe in a few years, though.

It's good that we have 2 weeks between games so any coach can interview without putting any further stress on the practice and film review schedules.

According to PFT, the Browns also want to interview Josh McDaniels, too.
I'm sure there will be others to follow.

Not sure about Cable, but Bevel has been a candidate before.

I'm a little surprised at the numbers of coaches that were fired. Tampa Bay's firing caught me by surprise.

It has been rumored that the Vikings are looking at him. Not a reliable source in my opinion so won't bother linking.

Personally, I'd like to see some new blood at the Hawks OC position.

The Browns FO is full of idiots. I feel really bad for that fanbase, which deserves so much more than getting shat on year after year after year by incompetence in the FO.

I think the Vikings GM is the real problem (starting the year with Ponder as the starter and spending a bunch to have Freeman deactivated every week is the height of incompetence), but it's not like Frazier has much of a defense, either.

No kidding about the Browns fan base. I can't think of a more dedicated, less rewarded fan base in all of football. Heck, they even had their team stolen from them.
