Yes, XLVIII is a distant memory at this point. I want another. Winning two in a row is becoming a very difficult thing to do in this day and age of free agency and parity. New England has been the only team to have achieved such a feat in contemporary times. It would say more about our team than winning one random Lombardi in a year where all the stars lined up.

Distant memory?

Jeez, sorry about that. I'm still buzzed about it myself, hoping for another fix soon!

It's still a bit surreal to think about last year.
The SB win was so lopsided, that it took the pressure and stress away from the game, which was a reward in its own way.

I'm just so glad we took advantage of our HFA and all the work that was put in to winning our first Lombardi.

This season is shaping up to be special as well. No guarantees, but we have the best defense going right now.

And we all know what that can win:)

Go Seahawks!!!

Yea, I hear ya. I was one helluva lot more excited during the NFCCG than I was during the SB, which was more or less anticlimactic.

Right IF we could win 2 in a row, we would be a special team, that would always be talked about.

We are champions

What a team , that's one thing we have is a good team at every position. The reason for that rests on Pete Caroll's shoulders.

WE ARE GOING TO BE SB CHAMPS IN 2015. THERE IS NO REASON WE CAN'T DO THIS. GREEN BAY JUST HAD A TOUGH GAME WITH DETROIT PLUS ARRON RODGERS GOT HURT SO THERE IS NO REASON WE CAN'T BEAT THEM. SAN FRANCISCO JUST LOST TO AIRZONA SO CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ARE THEY EVEN GOING TO BE IN THE PLAYOFFS ? ATLANTA LOST. SO TO ME IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE TO GET PAST DALLAS TO BE NFC CHAMPS. THIS IS VERY DOABLE THIS SEASON. WHOO WHO GO SEAHAWK'S PEASCE OUT. TALK TO ME BOARD

I am enjoying our Seahawks being champs. They have defended their crown as well as any team has, earning HFA following a SB win is HUGE. It does seem that we are witnessing something special, something only a few other fans of other teams (or sports) have got to experience. I have said that I thought they would repeat but this season turned out to be even tougher than it was last season just to get in position to make the run. No team, not the vaunted Steel Curtain teams, not the Trip[let Cowboys, not the Brady led Pats, not the Montana led 49ners, and not even the legendary Green Bay Packers have won 3 Super Bowls in a row. GB did win 3 NFL Championships in a row and probably would have won 3 in a row IF the game would have started a year earlier. But, the fact is they didn't. I truly believe we could very well witnessing history being made. But, anyhow, I will settle for back to back wins for now, should they earn a trip back to Glendale in Feb. of 2015

Lazy cheapskate question: does anyone have some Seattle Times login credentials we can use?

I find it kinda cute they think their content is still worth charging for, but if I thought that, I'd still subscribe.

Take your advertising crumbs or go out of business, ST.

[edit]

And before anyone says "just Google it and use that link to bypass the firewall", I've tried (and reported them to Google for not abiding the rules).

This question is for River or ChawkBob . Do either of you cheeseheads know if San Fran is in or out of the playoffs or not ? Also do we stand a chance against Dallas or not. Thank you !

Any body else posting I just want River or C Hawk Bob to answer those two questions or one of the old timers who has been a poster on PI . Zorn comes to mind. 8-) TY LOL

Here is a question for every one who is a member poster. Who started this website ?

San Fran was put out of the playoffs, and the seal was put on Hairball's walking papers, at the Clink in week 16 as our Christmas present to the NFL outside of San Francisco.

Stand a chance? Dallas stands a chance against us if they make it to the NFCCG, but it's a slim one! The way our defense is playing if we score 17 points against anyone we win. We can score 17 points against anyone.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas Nose Guy, enjoy your New Year.

Those were serious questions??

If DAL is lucky enough to make it to the NFCCG, and we find a way to not let either an also-ran or a seriously flawed DET team knock us off, SEA will be ~10pt favorites against DAL, less if DAL looks spectacular in their division game or we look just the opposite.

I'm not saying that I'm scared of anyone as I do think we are the best team in football and even more so when playing at home. But there are a couple of things I want to point out, particularly as it applies to a potential matchup with the Cowboys.

Dallas has the best balanced offense of all the teams in the playoffs. They can cause us some serious matchup problems. In the first game, we had Richard Sherman shadowing Dez Bryant. Unless I am mistaken, this is the only game in the past 3 years where we've broken our tradition of leaving our corners on the same side of the field regardless of the receiver they're matched up against. That just shows the type of respect our staff has for the Cowboy offense if we break our own rules like that. They have the best OL of all the playoff participants and of those we've faced in the last half of our season, both in terms of running the ball and in protecting the quarterback.

As well as our defense has played over the past 6 weeks, we really haven't done it against top shelf quarterbacking. In our last 6 games, we have faced Drew Stanton, Colin Kaepernick (x2), Mark Sanchez, Ryan Lindley, and Shawn Hill. Only Kaepernick was a starter at the beginning of the season. As much as we've all liked to make him the butt of all our Cowboy jokes, Tony Romo is a veteran Pro Bowl quality quarterback that has played against our defense more than any other QB in the playoffs, having faced us 3 times in the last 4 years. He knows our defense and he knows what to expect from the 12th man.

I don't think the Cowboys make it to the NFCCG, though. I certainly don't think they're going to blow out the Lions. They haven't played well at home and Detroit has an offense that if it is clicking, can turn the game into a high scoring shoot out, and if they make it past them, I don't see them knocking off the Packers in Lambeau. IMO our playoff opponents will be the Panthers and the Packers.

I'm not pessimistic and I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I do think it's appropriate that we have a balanced discussion. This is playoff football, and these teams aren't going to roll over for us.

I always worry, especially on game day. Any given Sunday. And the 12s can only do so much. I had an opportunity to watch a lot of the NFL replay and saw all our potential opponents perform in their last game. All of them have flaws including the Hawks. Here's how I would handicap these teams in a matchup with Seattle.

5.Carolina has won 4 in a row and there are some talking heads picking them to beat AZ. Newton seems to be carrying himself with more maturity after the car crash. They are playing good D and running the ball decent. That being said I pick AZ to win this one. If Carolina should prevail they aren't going to win in Seattle. LOB is Kryptonite to Superman.

4.AZ has stabilized the offense somewhat. Lindley actually resembled an NFL QB for much of the game and got off the TD goose egg. He has a big arm. They have a stout D. They would come to town with 12 wins and I respect them but I think Seattle would put an end to the Cinderella story. Lindley is the key to any postseason hopes.

3.Detroit has their bad boy back in the middle which makes them much more dangerous to Dallas. They are the second ranked D behind Seattle and have some weapons on offense. That being said Stafford looked like a popcorn fart against Green Bay. I would anticipate Dallas will handle them but statistically Dallas is a weak home team this year. I'll pick Dallas in the game but Detroit would be the closest thing to an NFC west defense coming to the Klink. Again I don't see them winning in Seattle.

2. Green Bays chances come down to two words, Aaron Rodgers. He is reportedly receiving around the clock treatment for his calf injury. If he's gimpy they are 1 and done. If he's healthy they are dangerous. Their defense isn't quite up to snuff. I don't think LOB can shut them completely down but I think its a game where our offense could score more.

1. Dallas is peaking at the right time. Since the dreadful loss on Thanksgiving they have been blowing up teams, embarrassing them. Romo has been very good although he had a few "Romo" moments last week against a terrible Redskins team. They have the best line in the NFL and a guy we can not stop in Dez Bryant. Spray Tan had a great game the first time around. This is such a formidable offensive team they will put up some points. Their D has not been as consistent late in the season and Seattle will be able to score.

There are 2 keys to this game IMO.#1 is the Dallas running game. If they can run and throw play action off it we are in a heap of trouble. I think our run D is light years better than last time and will not allow Dallas to gash them like last time. Seattle was very beat up and the cancer was still on the roster.

#2 is the refs. Seattle has been getting rung up all year and haven't helped themselves with boneheaded fouls. But Goodell detests Seattle and would drool at seeing Dallas in the Super bowl due to $$$$$$$$$. It could be a replay of XL. This isn't a game Seattle will win with 11 penalties to 1. I don't see Seattle blowing them out and a PI,hold etc or critical non calls on the opponent could be the difference. This could be an epic game if both teams bring their A game and the refs let them play. I never bet against my Hawks but this matchup makes me the most uneasy.
