Going to the Cards game

My flight leaves for Phoenix tomorrow morning. Me and a friend of mine have been planning this ever since the schedule was announced back in May. We have decent seats and they were for about half the price of what you would pay for similar seats over the secondary market for a game in Seattle.

If anyone else is going to the Cards game, send me a PM and perhaps we can hook up at some point. Wish us luck!

Go Hawks!

River... I hope you have a good time but don't forget what happened last time you attended a Hawks game. Do something different. Don't wear the same jersey. Wear different underwear. Eat a different breakfast. Drink a different type of beer. One thing that I have found that works is if I drink one of those Seahawk 'kickoff' Bud Lights. If the team is doing poorly I switch to one of those and it seems to work. Last year by playoff time I had ran out. Didn't drink one for the Cards game and they lost, so I scoured the area where I live to find them. None were to be found because they had all long been sold out. Then, just as my hope was waning and I was sure we would lose in the playoffs, I went to a rundown old gas station (you know one of those ones where you can't tell if it is open or abandoned). Luckily the door opened and I walked through the dimly lit store, searching for the Beer section. As I wiped the dust from the refrigerator door I saw a very slim selection of beer, but no bud light. I opened the door and crouched down to the lowest rack and there, in the back of the rack was my prize; Seahawk kickoff Bud Light. The beer tasted like sh*t and I literally had to dust off every bottle but that case lasted me and my buddy through the playoffs and the rest is history. We even brought them to the NFC Champ game and shotgunned them before going in (I know I'm 30 and don't usually shotgun beers anymore but this stuff tasted so bad it needed to be shotgunned). So... like I was saying RD, just make sure you change something.

NO! Wear *exactly* the same stuff and dare this team to lose to a 3rd-string QB with all that's on the line.

Have fun! I thought I might make it down for this one but we decided to put the $$ toward other trips coming up.

I'm blaming the Cowboy loss on my friend that accompanied me to the game. It was his first ever football game, let alone a Seahawks game. My game jersey contains no bad karma.

I'm really jacked about this game. We committed to this one way back in May shortly after the schedule was announced. I never dreamed it would be this consequential.

Alright, that sounds good. So long as you are not going to the game with the same friend.

Enjoy the game. May this be the first of your two trips to see the Seahawks play in that stadium this season.

Have a great time, RD. It should be a fun if not nerve wracking game to watch.
Give us a run down when you get back.

Wow. Hell, I am not a fan of either team and I'd like to be there for this game. There are going to be a lot of sore bodies after this game. Unbelievable how much is on the line for both teams. Anything from home field advantage to not even making the playoffs is riding on this game (though the later is a near impossibility). I am pretty jacked to watch it. I hope it is a good game throughout and does not turn into a Hawk blowout.

Have fun RD. This will be the first game in AZ I will. Miss in years. Too close to Christmas. 12s completely took over nearby bars. Lots of fun.

Witness the PHI-WAS game tonight to see how little records can matter. PHI is a much, much more flawed team than us, but still...

Good news for you, win or lose, the following week is probably a win in Ninerville.

In AZ, if the random sampling of my airline flights and other venues I've been to is accurate, this game should have a large assembly of 12's.

All I can say is that I'm lucky this is a text only forum because I don't have a voice this morning. What a game! We had fantastic seats, 7 rows up on the upper level off about the 25 yard line on the Seahawks side. 12's made a big showing, including at all the bars and restaurants we frequented. The Hawk players themselves acknowledged us by turning around and cheering their fans. Pretty neat moment. If you guys have never made a road trip to a Hawks game, you're really missing out on something.

We're peaking at just the right time. I get the feeling that the rest of the league did a collective "Oh, chit!" last night now that we are in control of HFA.

Were you and your friend part of the crowd that hung around cheering the post game show with Warren Moon and Paul Silvi??

We had an awesome time at the game, before, during, and after. I am just now getting my voice back. We had great seats off about the 20 yard line, 7 rows up in the upper level. We estimated that the crowd was about 40-50% Hawk fans.

I do have one question and wanted to see if any of you guys or any of the network announcers picked up on it. Late in the game with the Hawks up 35-6 and under 3 minutes to go, Arians not only was still playing Larry Fitzgerald, who hasn't been back in the lineup for long, he threw to him on three straight attempts.

WTF is he thinking? His team is in the playoffs, still in the hunt for HFA if the Hawks lose next week, and he's risking his best receiver during garbage time? Somebody please give me a rational explanation.

No explanation for you, and I don't recall any commentary on it except from the FieldGulls' 'opposite fan reactions' where one of their fans (iirc) asked WTF he was doing in there late in a blowout.

I thought the same thing and not only was out there getting the ball thrown to him but they were routes over the middle that could have ended his season. The only mention that I can remember was Collinsworth saying something about Fitz always playing hard, even at the end of a blowout.

maybe he gets paid a bonus for a certain # of catches in a year and he was a few short.

River, you lucky dog! Glad you made it out safe, routing for the Hawks and all.

Thanks, JS, but there was never any time when there was a question about personal safety. All the Arizona fans were very gracious and we aren't the type to taunt or insult other team's fans, which is usually what lands people in trouble.
