Well, like I pontificated on another thread in here yesterday evening ... AHEM .... "The Hawks will probably not be able to resign Averill" (after signing KJ Wright to a four year extension yesterday).

Another excellent example of why I don't ever bet more than a jug of ale on football.

Hawks D will remain formidable, and allows Hawks to wade into F/A and draft for offense.

A $16 mil guarantee to Overall Averill kept him from testing F/A.

Another good front office move will just tingle other team's offenses all next year.

Timing is everything, and the salivation will flow right into the Zona game.

So, I predict they will not move up to draft Danny Shelton ... in hopes they do.

But Shelton isn't now ... and Carpenter probably comes in with a contract before the draft.

This is what a REAL front office does. I'll never stop beating the drum about how stupid it was that Ruskell wouldn't negotiate mid season and how much it hurt the Hawks ability to keep their own free agents.

I knew they were trying to get Wright done heading into the season but I'm pretty shocked they were able to lock up Avril too considering Wagner coming up. Have to think that probably Maxwell is not getting done now.

Love this front office.

Wow. I'm actually shocked as I thought Avril might be one of those guys who would price themselves out of a contract here asking around 8-10 a year. He's making less than KJ?????

This FO doesn't want to fix what isn't broken. Looks like subtracting Harvin means extending more of our own right now. This is great news!

The front office just makes making great moves, by keeping the core together (as they promised they would) and making the players happy with reasonable yet not cap killing contracts that everyone can live with.

This team is now the Patriots west coast. Seriously, we ARE the next dynasty!
