Why not Russ? Hes doing some things I really have rarely seen a QB do and Ive been watching the game for 48 years.Hes part Roger Staubach, part Fran Tarkenton. No less a critic than Ron Jaworski said this morning that he would vote for RW as MVP based on how many plays he makes that are outside the structure due to poor line play and average receivers. Jaworski pointed out that RW averages just under 10 yards per broken play, an amazing stat. That 4th quarter TD run yesterday, amazing. DOA turned to TD with a perfect stiff arm of a big man and and ankle breaking juke at the goal line. And he does this stuff all the time. NOBODY is more valuable to their team............

Wilson should definitely be in the discussion, if not the winner.

This team is probably an 8 win team with an average qb. With our offensive line and mediocre WRs there would be almost no passing game without someone like russ who can scramble and make awesome throws or run for big yards.

Not many teams would see a 3 (or 4) win dropoff by inserting an average starting qb. Wilson brings so much to the table and makes other players better. To me that is a real mvp.

He's being mentioned today as a 'dark horse' MVP candidate on both the four letter networks.

It's a little late for him to hit the radar screens of those voting.
JJ Watt seems to me to be the front runner, but I bet Romo gets more votes in this popularity contest.

It was Rodgers or Demarco Murray for much of the season.Romo has looked better, very impressive yesterday. Of course there is Brady. Watt is awesome but I dont see him as League MVP. Wilson and the Hawks are peaking at the right time. MVP, SB MVP, and man of the year would be nice.

While he does pass less you have to look at his whole body of work, just the stats alone are MVP worthy

Rodgers makes up 74% of total yards and 73% of tds.

So Rws number are actually right up there and Rodgers had an easier schedule, better oline, great RB and much better WRs and is in a pass orientated offense, that showed last year without Rodgers they were still pretty good

Lets look at Romo

3467 total yards, 32 tds

Romo makes up 59% of total yards, 65% of total tds

In Romos case, better oline, much better WRs, easier schedule, and great RB

4124 total yards, 37 tds

Manning makes up 79% of total yards, 77% of total tds

And manning has a much better oline, decent Rbs, great WR, pass happy offense and great defense and much much easier schedule

Brady
4070 total yards, 33 tds

Brady makes up 70% of total yards, and 70% of total tds
Brady has a much better oline, decent Rbs, better Wr, pass happy offense and much easier schedule

So as you can see Rw stacks up very well against them and given the difference in schedule and talent around them I think he is right in the mix.

The problem with MVP voting is the fact that "Fans" can vote.

You might be right about all of those things offensive scheme, OL, etc but unfortunetly MVP voters wont take that into consideration when voting. They want to just see the raw stats. We all know how important RW is to this team and all agree that he should get a considerable look for MVP but the voters won't give him more than a curtisy glance. Thats just the way it is, altough hopefully at some point things will change, like when Felix won the cy young the voters finally stopped looking at wins as an important stat for a pitcher. Maybe someday they will recongize RW's greatness.
