It's just a relief that we're peaking at the right time, and that our LOB defense will be remembered for at least one SB, and hopefully a 2nd coming up.

Be a lot more stressful if we were still looking for our first Lombardi.

No kidding. Remember when the Mariners won 116 games and everyone started comparing them to some of the all time great teams... then we didn't even make it to the World Series, lost in 5 games to those arrogant frigging Yankees in the ALCS.

Don't really agree. Those teams never won a championship. Even if they don't win again this year, when people think about defense in this decade, based on the statistical dominance over these past 3 seasons and the fact that they dominated arguably the greatest offense in league history and won a championship Seattle will be the first team off the tip of people's tongues. (A catchy nickname doesn't hurt either).

Obviously a championship is the ultimate goal but remember the Bears only one championships. Still almost no one mentions the 86 Giants (as great as they were) before the 85 Bears. Number 1 defense for three straight years and a championship there will be specials made about "The Legion of Boom" on the NFL Network down the road.

When will the fanbase catch on to the affirmation that these guys have broken through all the psychological and real barriers of road game curse, east coast travel curse, 10am wc start curse, post bye week curse, defending superbowl champion curse, sports illustrated curse, madden curse, riverdog attending a game curse....

Next on the list is first defending superbowl champion to win a playoff game in nine years. This team believes in none of that nonsense and only in itself.

The reason that I didn't have a single worry while down 6-0 at halftime yesterday was the defense. We had given up two first half turnovers which led in large part to the ram's only scores.

Think about this: The 2013 defense led the league in yards and points allowed while being the benefactor of 39 turnovers. The 2014 defense had about half of the number of turnovers caused and still led the league in yards and points allowed. A much more difficult feat to accomplish given the effective greater number of possessions to defend.

I mostly agree with you, LTF. I don't mean to imply that I think this team will be completely forgotten/dismissed if we don't back it up with a repeat, but I do think a lot (not all, but a lot) of the "greatest ever" talk will evaporate, kal's solid argument notwithstanding.
