I like many of the match ups against the Packers, where I think that the Seahawks have clear advantages. But, I also have some concerns.

Namely, the loss of Jordan Hill was glaring against the Panthers; there was little interior pressure and that is exactly what we need to move AR around to disrupt his timing and accuracy.

On the offensive side of the ball, I think the loss of Richardson will have a greater affect than is expected. Early in the season we saw our receiving corps get little to no separation. Once Richardson started to play more, the field and the defense became stretched even without attempting deep throws. The element of speed and its effect on the defense is hard to quantify. I do not trust Lockette to fill that void.

I hadn't made that connection at all. Would be hard to go back and see if there is a clear correlation.

I have a little more confidence in Lockette. I would like to see the Haws go deep to him in the 1st or 2nd quarter. Also hoping Willson has another good game like he had with Az and NC, not like the Rams game. I think Willson (when playing well) helps keep the opposing Ds honest.

Unless you think the players are reading this forum, there's no need to guard against overconfidence except to avoid mental anguish in the event of a loss.

Not really, just go back and look at the all 22 if you have access. Heck, just look at the separation Richardson was getting on simple routes this last game! Richardson's speed is in fact, a difference maker, and he had in fact, edged out Lockette because he was playing better. Wilson was really starting to develop a trust factor with him too.
I have to agree that the Richardson injury may hurt more than we think.
Fortunately, Chop Chop has been stepping up lately, which may offset some of that loss, at least on deep throws.

Thank you. I always think that when I read these kinds of threads.
I can get as overconfident as I like, it doesn't matter one bit if I overlook the Packers (and I am. Heck I'm also overlooking the Patriots who I am putting in the Super Bowl with the Seahawks, I think unless we play horribly, we're going to win our second Lombardi, I'd bet on it if I were a betting man), because I don't play the game.

So long as the PLAYERS don't overlook the Packers, and I see no reason they would, then they'll be fine.

I have noticed this as well and it does worry me. I liked how he was progressing but loved what he was starting to open things up for our offense. If you want a perfect example of what LTF and Monkey are talking about re-watch Kearse's 63 yard TD catch (what a perfect throw by Wilson). Richardson absolutely torches his guy off the line. The guy is trying to bump him and he gets like five yards of seperation in his 5 strides, pretty impressive. It was hard to tell but it looked like they were playing with a single high safety because they blitzed and the safety immediatly has to shade towards Richardson, leaving Kearse without anybody over the top on his crossing route. If Richardson doesn't torch his guy the pass probably still gets compteted (because it was a perfect pass) but it probably wouldn't have gone for a TD.

Jermaine Kearse. Sorry, I should have just typed out his name, but that's his nickname. It came from Michael Robinson's locker room reports the "Real Rob" reports.
His teammates teased Kearse because he''s light skinned, they called him that because he's the "other white meat". Now it's part of his twitter handle.

Sadly, I don't have access to the all 22. I'll look for examples though as I re-watch every '14 Hawks game though. Thanks!

Not unlike any game, especially this deep into the playoffs. I share your concerns, at least in general.

Losing Jordan Hill was big, just like losing Mebane was big. But this defense is organic. It heals thyself. Someone will rise to the occasion and fill the void.

What I always worry about in these games where we are the obvious favorite and playing at home is the unpredictable events... turnovers, penalties, the weather, the officiating, special teams. On paper and by using Futureite's patented eye test, I think we win this game going away. But you never know.

31-13 Hawks, and on to Glendale to face Brady and the Pats, where we will beat our second straight HOF QB in the biggest event on the planet.

Guard against overconfidence.
