Can You Believe This??

Being a Seattle Seahawk fan since 1976, I find myself in awe of what this franchise has accomplished the last 5 seasons. I'm talking about how Seattle has not only fielded a winner, but done so in such a way as to make it not far reaching to predict a dynasty. A trend that the NFL has worked against for years. It's so awesome to feel this. Just take a minute & reflect on what this regime is accomplishing. Our standards have been raised so far so fast that it's mind blowing. Take a look at the big picture, those of you who have rooted for a team that has mired itself in mediocrity for most of it's history, save for a few winning seasons, & a serious run in 2005-2006. I sometimes just break out in a wide grin when I think of the Seahawks. I draw strange looks from my co-workers when I find myself giggling like a jr high school kid when I think about where we are today. What a great time to be a Seattle Seahawks fan. The longer one has been a fan, the sweeter this current situation is. GO HAWKS!
p.s. Do yourself a favor & read Pete Carroll's book "Win Forever". It outlines his plan for building a champion, & it is almost psychic in view of the fact that was written in the time leading up to Carroll's hiring in Seattle.

Just having that conversation with Greg, everywhere you turn there's another unbelievable current or all time record that we're breaking, it's almost scary.

Most recent one he brought up:

This is nuts!

Longest NFL active streaks of not losing by 10+ points:
1. Seattle Seahawks: 61
2. New England Patriots: 12

When I saw that stat the first time, I called my brother the Cowboys fan and told him, and he was absolutely dumbfounded. He kept saying "Really? Wow!"

I just shake my head at what this team has done since Pete took over.
I remember well all the doubts I had throughout the early part of the process. I questioned how this all could gel together with a front office made up of so many voices.
Now I am pounding the stump for Pete Carroll everywhere I go, the man should have been coach and or executive of the year last year and again this year. What he has done taking over a team with relatively no talent (thanks to Tim Ruskell...idiot) completely turning over the entire roster, making a record number of roster moves, looking under every rock to find talent, and then maximizing that talent rather than trying to force it into some tight system...The brilliance in the draft, constantly getting questioned by everyone, one draft in particular, getting an F from all the supposed draft gurus out there, only to have that draft be the best draft in the history of this team, Pete Carroll...dude...I am just amazed.

This team, and especially this defense, is going to go down in history as one of the greatest defense EVER, and will LONG be known as the single greatest secondary ever assembled.

Honestly it feels weird in a way. Like lots of guys and gals in this forum I'm a lifer and I'm 55 so that means from the beginning. We're the kings of 7-9 9-7. Never say die, usually keep it interesting into early December, have a good or really good year every so often. Knox and Holmgren had some very competitive teams. Knox's resembled this one a little bit more. But last Feb 2nd I was in a stupor and it wasn't just the beer. I was nervous when it was late in the third quarter. Its hard to absorb.

Wow....just wow....We are feared. We are loaded. We are favored to win our second straight Lombardi! I feel like its a dream and I dont want to have to wake up anytime soon.

Well said, Vegas.

This entire thing is a trip - but a good one. Last year's SB victory was surreal. I felt comfortable that we'd win the game, but thought it would be much closer. When it became clear that we were likely gonna win the thing by halftime, I was in unchartered territory. Because when the stakes were highest, we came through without a struggle - something that completely flies in the face of our franchise history.

It's unreal how Pete Carroll and John Schneider have turned this team around, to say nothing of our owner who had the wisdom to bring them aboard.

Now here we are, again, the first team to win a playoff game the year after winning the SB in 9 years. That itself demonstrates the resolve and focus this group has. The bar has been raised, the standard set. And that's a great place to be as a fan. Anybody who's been a 12 for a long time certainly can appreciate all this.

Meanwhile, I gotta good feeling about this year. Our players understand the goal, and they've come this far by breaking it down one game at a time. It makes it manageable. So far, so good.

I'm just really proud of the Seattle Seahawks, and that I've had the privilege of being a fan since 1979, when I was 10 yrs old.

Let's do this thing.

Again:)

Go Seahawks!!!
