The Hawks promoted B.J. Daniels from practice squad to active roster yesterday. At first I was thinking why do they need a third QB? According to Pete it's more than just for QB, apparently he is a back up returner, running back LOL and wide receiver as well. The one that intrigues me the most is him as returner, Walters just does not do it for me, granted that most teams give the ball a lot of hang time so their guys can get there same time as the ball but there has been times that he has some time to run and it ended in 7.7 yards minimum, maybe we were just spoiled last year with tate and Baldwin. Also him being a WR with great QB options, I can see him doing some stupid jet sweep, tossing it back to Wilson or deep down field and making a great play. If he can bring back only 50% of the return game we had last year it would be a big upgrade over what we had this year, I think Walters had his first 10 yards return last week and it may have

I'll say that anything to help out the return game works for me but lets not get too cute with jet sweeps and crap.

I'm not sure the NFC Championship game is the time to experiment.
Has he done any return or WR work in regular season?

I don't think there is anyway we see him back to return punts, maybe as a kick returner if kearse or ADB gets hurt but I really doubt PC would put somebody in that position in the NFC Championship game, especially considering how important ball control is to his gameplan. Also, I don't think we see too much of him in the game period. I like the idea of bringing him up at this point especially because it makes the Packers spend time preparing for him, but in reality he will probably play a very small role in the game, if any at all.

He's giving Clements and McCarthy something to occupy themselves with saying he's got a play package for a 3rd string QB lining up at RB, WR, H-Back and wherever else he can think of. We've shown him Russell catching a pass already ... let 'em worry about what next?

Neither am I but we have Pete Carroll as head coach so anything goes
And no he has done nothing during regular season as he spend all season on practice squad, last year too I think

I keep reading people say that this is just gamesmanship.
I used to believe that Pete did all sorts of things like that, but the trouble is, over the years he's been here, when he says something it's ALWAYS turned out to be exactly true.
If he does something without saying why THEN you could suspect gamesmanship, but when he tells you what he's doing and why, rest assured, it's not a trick or a game.
Point is, he may or may not use him a lot, but you can be sure you will see him in SOME role somewhere on special teams, even if it's just placekick holder.
I suspect that Pete will have him ready to backup the kick returner now with RIchardson out at a minimum.
It's funny how people still keep assuming that Pete is lying to them...when I go back and listen to the things he's told the media over the years, very specific things that we all debated about, or the media accused him of playing games about, EVERY SINGLE TIME, he was being dead serious.
There are no deceptions or magic acts or Bellicheck types of maneuverings, just straight up, this is what I want to do, and why I have done this, and I think it will work.
Usually it does too.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but I do recall multiple occasions in which Pete said something about how well a player was progressing or whatever and then they were gone within a week. Granted that has been a few years but its always in the back of my mind.

Meh.
There's really no point in putting the guy out there in any capacity, IMO, especially as a returner.
We're one game away from another SB. This is no time to get cute and take away snaps from players that we can count on.

Daniels is inactive. He served his purpose giving the Packers one more thing to have to plan for, now sit down and watch son..
