The Beastmode contract offer

Couldn't believe this wasn't already a topic (forgive me if it is) but I consider this monster news:
http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/sports...ion/ar-AA8QqfSI seriously thought our resources, at least the huge contract resources, we earmarked elsewhere ... this team never ceases to surprise. I just love that we're showing the world, and more importantly the rest of the team, that we really do take care of our own and if you earn it you will be rewarded, but is anyone else concerned about the Beast's pitch count at the beginning of such a contract?

Like everything we have to wait until the terms are public to evaluate.
I would imagine that the guaranteed amounts are only for two years but who knows at this point?
Not worried about Marshawn's pitch count - They made a movie about him with Samuel L Jackson a few years ago called "Un-Breakable".
Front office knows the situation best - they would not offer a contract longer than what they expect his "Useful Life" to be.
Personally I am very happy - he is my favorite hawk - I don't know how many posts i wrote this year saying the comments so many experts were making about Marshawn not being asked back next year were so stupid.

Best. News. Ever. I hope Marshawn agrees to it.

Clayton, O'Neil, Werder all question the validity of the story.

So this has me excited and concerned. Excited that we may keep him , concerned because that means either Wagner or Wilson may be gone. If this is even true, and if the numbers are right.

I don't know why this would mean either Russell or BobbyW wouldn't be signed to long term deals. With the salary cap estimated to go up 12m this year, and with our carryover, I think we're OK.
For Marshawn, i had figured 10m a year for 3 years with 15m guaranteed / signing bonus (helps Marshawn pay that upcoming 1m fine for the 3 days of the "Beast" cap penalty.)
Since he was in around 8m anyway (prorated cap hit from his last contract) and the ability for prorating the new contract over 3 years, the hit wouldn't be that much more, maybe up around 9m?
What may occur is more of the top backups (Schofield is one) that we may not be able to resign as their value has increased.

Probably Maxwell is gone.
Keep the Beast.

This. Theres no way that the front office forsakes Wags &/or Wilson to sign Beastmode. No way in hell.

If they are offering him an extension, it must fall within the parameters of the plan they have for this team.
No way they blow that up considering the success they have had the first 5 years.
It's the last thing I worry about with our Front Office.

Ive done a 180 on Lynch and I think the FO has as well. Before the season they were singing the praises of Micheal and Turbo and a back by committee approach. Lynch is/was a head case.
But lets face it there is only one Beast Mode slaloming down the field in this league. Hes proven he will still go play after getting paid unlike SA's famous collapse once the check got cashed.
I would like to see Beast here for at least 2 more seasons while the Hawks window is wide open.

Maxwell likely going elsewhere helps open up the contract for Marshawn it looks like. With that in mind, coupled with how outstanding ML has been since he got to Seattle, I'm pleased that they are at least making a serious attempt to keep him.
If ever there was a player that deserves this at this stage of his career, it's Marshawn Lynch.

The front office has been insisting for three + seasons now that they have a plan to sign the guys that they think are the key players...I don't know why this is even a worry. They say theyve got this, so they've got this.
I mean, they've done EVERYTHING they set out to do so far. They'll sign Beast Mode and Wilson and Wagner, and with the cap going up next year it will NOT be a problem going forward, it just won't.
This ride is just getting started, buckle in folks the Seahawks are going to be contenders for a LONG time.
Also, I just have to say this, I am hearing fans just go nuts today after the way that game ended, and while on one hand I can't blame them, today what I am feeling isn't a feeling of anger or regret...sadness maybe for the players...but what I am really feeling today is PRIDE!
This team is freakin awesome! Seriously, just three years ago, we were all dreaming of the day when we would be good enough to be where we are right now.
We can call into question that final call until we turn blue, but as far as I am concerned, Pete Carroll is a freakin GENIUS regardless of that final play. The front office, the coaching staff, they had this team a half yard from being repeat champions. That's how good this team is! That's how good a job Pete Carroll and John Schnieder have done!
Yeah, it's too bad we lost, but we still made it, when everyone said that, even winning a playoff game the next year is too hard. We got back, and got to within one half a yard from repeating.
I'm darned proud of this team!
With all the injuries we had, all the depth that we lost over the off season and lost to injury throughout the season, and with the players who were playing through tough injuries, Sherman, Earl and Kam the core of the LOB ALL were banged up, (and it showed), yet they persevered. This is one TOUGH group of guys, and they are OURS for many years yet to come.
All I can say is do NOT count us out next year! In fact, I would just go ahead and pencil us in the playoffs for the foreseeable future, because this train is just getting rolling.

My disappointment is overcoming my pride in how they played.
In time I'll feel the same as you, but how close it was to another Championship hurts more than if we lost by a lot.
I guess it's because the expectations are so high especially after the big catch from Kearse and Marshawn getting to the 1 yard line.

First off, it's just an offer, and not even an official one. Hopefully Beast bites, but let's not count our chickens before they hatch. I trust that this will not hinder resigning Wilson and Wagner, who are 1-2 in pecking order.
Secondly, I would like to hear the guaranteed amount. I'm OK with two years.
Agreed that Maxwell is probably a goner, maybe Carpenter, too. I'm sure both will command more than we are willing or can afford to give.

Its a true story; its worth the money, all you have to do in the NFL is cut them. The only thing you lose is the bonus. Beast has one or two good years left. We sign him and move on to next year....IF he'll sign.

I read something that said 10 million the first year, but who knows what was being discussed.
Does the CBA permit a series of 1 year contracts?
I was thinking this would not push forward dead money should they not want to continue or he wants to retire, as well as pay Lynch an agreeable amount. Basically giving us no long term impact on future Cap room.
