Seahawks Top Priority?

I think without a doubt it is Wide Receiver\Tight End.

Pete, John & Darrell are probably still having nightmares over how we could not throw the ball at all against either the Patriots or the Packers. While we need help for the offensive line (like always) and some Interior pass rush - I do believe that are only real weakness last year was our inability to throw the ball and the Packers and Patriots both exploited this successfully at the end of the year.

It might have opened their eyes a little.
I would also add CB and OL to the list, but if they really like a DT early - someone like Mike Bennett who can penetrate or Carl Davis who is a big plug in the middle, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I am betting most of what they get will be defense, or run blocking lineman. They may sprinkle in a arbitrary Wr so they can say they did, but it will not be a #1 type. The fact they tendered Kearse at a #2 says a lot and not in a good way.

Are you saying that you don't like what the FO has done to address the OL and WR positions in the past few years?

We have been one of the worse pass blocking olines in the league for over 3 years that says it all. As to WR our best Wr would be at best a #3 on any good team. enough said

So you are saying you don't like what the FO has done to address the OL and WR positions in the past 3 years, got it. I just didn't realize you felt this way.

Of course I did but sarcasm doesn't translate well on these boards.

I think they'll be looking to replace Carp, and if they have a highly graded LG I wouldn't be surprised to see them go in that direction in the first round. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them draft Okung's eventual replacement.

We need to improve our oline pass blocking and WR period. We have needed to do that for 3 years.

I would like to see the hawks address the TE/WR positions through the draft, & fill in the OL/DL needs through free agency.

This years draft class is supposedly pretty thin at TE, so it might make sense to dedicate a good chunk most of our FA resources in making a run at Thomas or Jordan rather than fishing for one in the draft.

If we are looking for an immediate impact, the better route may be to use FA for a TE and a vet WR (the positions take longer to cultivate than others) and draft some line talent (both sides) along with secondary support early and often. I think the WR youngsters were starting to come along (though I understand Richardson may be slowed in 2015) and could be helped with Johnson and a late rounder.

Either way we go about it, the positions of need seem clear to us; but I always miss on what the FO does, so what the hell do I know? I've made my predictions - let's see how she shakes out.

I think signing the top Seahawk players so they return. Then I would say OL and a TE

In case you missed it, they've kinda addressed the TE position already ;)

I thought that re-signing Russell Wilson to a long term albeit team/cap friendly deal was a priority but so far we have heard nothing.

Then, early today I read an article that suggests that RW might have to wait a year to get his big deal. Do we really want Wilson to test free agency??? Now, you and I can probably agree that Seattle is the best place for Russell to take advantage of his unique skills but, maybe Russell would like to play on a team that has a great O-line and actually makes have a great O-Line a priority rather that an after thought. Wilson also has to weigh his health, and the fact that if the Seahawks doesn't get a deal done this off season he will have to play yet another year for peanuts when one hit could affect the rest of his career.

Does anybody else out there feel that it is "ok" if Wilson plays another season before he gets his big payday???

I have heard the same thing, IMO there is nothing to that except a few 'experts' trying to create a story. It makes no sense for them to be working on RW this part of the off-season. I mean would you rather have them working on Russ' contract or trading for Jimmy, replacing Max, preparing for the draft, and trying to improve the OL via free-agency. Think about when Sherm and ET got done last off-season. Both were done towards the end of April/early May and there were people saying maybe they would have to play out there contracts. All of the comments coming from JS point to the fact that they have at least had initial conversations about the extension. I have very little doubt that it will happen this offseason.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense to anybody but me, probably. I started using it in high school when I was trying to create a yahoo account for fantasy football. myk (pronounced mike) is my name and c is the first initial of my last name. 14 was my football number, but a lot of people think it means I love in or like Kansas City (my KC) or a girls named KC, or that I am 14 years old.

You are Mickey to me, dear. Even though you are clearly Mike C. You've mentioned that before and everytime I see your handle.... I read to see what The Mickster has to say.

MaryAnne is my name, but I'll always be some iteratin of Sis in here. I kinda like it that way.

I'd like to sign Stephen Wizzwhatshisface, tjack and then...RW and Wags. Most all else can be addressed with up n comers and the draft.

I'm really wondering what Chris Matthews will amount to this next year. I love the thought of Beast, RW, ADB, Matthews,Kearse, "WHO DA EFF IS JIMMY" + Norwood, Richardson (whenever that is) and a rook or two. Maybe Willson (w/ two L's) benefits. I'm likin' it right now. Excited for the next 4 months to unfold.

Thanks sis, I'm also excited to read your posts as well. I agree about signing the C from Oakland and about jimmy opening up stuff for everybody else. We haven't signed a FA (unless you count Williams, who I think is going to flourish here) and we have basically won the offseason. Get that center and lock up rw and wags and PC and JS have knocked or out of the park again, and that's not even counting the draft, what a great time to be a hawks fan!

I doubt we sign Wisniewski (sp) as it isn't something JS likes to do early in FA unless the player has an exceptional quality like Bennett or Avril.
I would think if they are interested they would have given him an offer they think is right, but won't compete with another team.
They didn't seem too worried that he left town so they must feel OK with what they have or expect cuts after June 1st to pick from.

The passing game was okay when we ran the read-option; but yeah, it can improve. I think O-Line might be the focus point here, more than the WRs. Getting Graham helps. Hoping Richardson can return, because he showed steady progress uncharacteristic of a first year receiver. I'd be all for picking up a top-tier OL to challenge for the starting positions. As far as WR, I think we just got our main guy in Jimmy Graham. Having him opens things up for RW, as well as all our other skill players in the run and passing game. Baldwin and Kearse are quality receivers who play an important role in the run and pass games. Hoping we avoid any prima-donna WR "palymakers," as that isn't what we need ... and I'm pretty sure we won't go that route anyway.

Back to the read-option and designed running plays for RW. By adding that element to our offense, the rest of the game opens as well. We completely gave up on it in the playoffs and the Super Bowl. If Bevell has it in his head that he's going to mold RW into a traditional pocket passer, then it's time to get ourselves a new OC ... that'll be step-one.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!
