PFT is reporting it as well.
They also say Justin Smith is retiring, too.

Big loss on both accounts. Dockett should fill in for Smith, at least to some extent and their young guys played well for Willis while he was injured but this is pretty shocking. Willis was a stud and certainly the best MLB/Inside LB in the game for awhile. could have been a HOFer if he played a little longer, IMO.

It's no coincidence that Willis is choosing to go this route now, because he can see where this team is headed, and it ain't good.
They have some talent left on that side of the ball but, ultimately, the 49ers are heading nowhere real quick.

Iupati is a free agent, too, and it doesn't sound like he's returning. The Niners could be heading for a real train wreck in 2015.
