9 mil

Postby mykc14 » Tue Mar 10, 2015 2:43 pm

It looks like we have about 9 mil left (including draft slotted prices). We still have to sign RW and Wags (well we don't have to, but are probably going to). We also have 2 OL holes to fill. IMO I don't see us picking up a FA center so maybe a guard. So what do you guys think is next? Do we still try and pursue a guy like Johnson (I know it looks like he is going to sign with Indy) or maybe a FA guard? Do we try and go after Browner? I don't know but I would be surprised to see us do anything other than sign RW to a big contract and hopefully do the same with Wags.

At this point it looks like we will go heavy at OL in the draft - meaning more than 1 OL player in the first 4 rounds.
We might get some guys who can play Center like Grisu or Dismukes.

There's no way we have enough contract details at this point to make any kind of definitive statement about how much cap room we have left. Pete & John have proven themselves to be good at this, (this is nothing like their first 2 year's roster churn!), I'm OK with sitting back and watching it play out and leave the counting until after the fact.

It's way too early in the process to concern ourselves with Cap issues.
There's a lot to play out before it becomes any type of concern.

Is that before or after Max - Jimmy Graham and having no 1st and an extra 4 and 6?... that's what I thought. Too early, too many cuts still to make.

Plus we cut Miller. So that adds a bit as well.

That is after all of that and includes money for our current draft slots, although I agree it is way too early to be too concerned about the cap. There is plenty if room and time to do anything they want. The topic wasn't one of panic more of a 'thus us where we are now' sort thought. Also PC and JS haven been great at working the cap so I have no worry they will be able to do what they want.

Here's the current amount, up to date with Cary Williams and Graham...

So teams are supposed to spend 89% of the cap right? What happens to a team like the Jags who still have 63 Mil right now?

I got my info from spotrac and it includes all of that plus the money slotted for draft picks, but finding completely accurate cap numbers at this point is difficult, also I like your number much better!

They have to spend 89% of the cap over a certain number of years (I think 3). So if they were at 85% they need to spend more in the next few years. With that being said there are some teams, like the jags and raiders who have to spend their money or they will be under that number.

There's a cash component that fits in there somehow too.

If, at the end of the 3 year window, they haven't spent at least 89% of the cap they have to pay the difference in cash.
