Pete's suggestion was 7+1 (no kick, run or pass) with the defense having the opportunity to score the extra point on an INT or fumble recovery/return.
That keeps the max doable at 8 points as it is today and just eliminated the useless kicking exhibition.
9 points possible is just stupid and makes the poll useless.

And as such is the sensible poll alternative to maintaining the status quo.
And as I said, the 9 point proposal is ludicrous, I have not seen it proposed anywhere but here. I wan't no part of it as it changes entirely the dynamic of a one possession vs 2 possession game. To include it as the poll alternative invalidates the poll for me.

c_hawkbob wrote:No thanks. Just doing you the courtesy of letting you know why I'm choosing not to participate in your poll.
And of course saying that if you really want a consensus give people proper choices, not "keep it the way it is" or "completely change the game". I didn't mean to make you mad but the 9 point idea just completely changes everything and anyone with any sense is going to opt to keep things the same if that's the other option.
Your 3rd option I have seen suggested and would not be a bad idea but I like Pete's suggestion infinitely better.
RiverDog wrote:Doing me the courtesy of telling me how stupid and useless my poll is? You have a broad definition of the word "courtesy".
savvyman wrote:As I mentioned on the other thread - the question comes down to "Do you wish to have the Extra point have more influence in the determination of the outcome of an NFL game"?
If the answer is yes you do want the extra point to have more of an influence in the outcome of a game then vote yes.
I voted no - there is the 2 point option available already for teams who when they wish to exchange some safety for an additional reward opportunity.
The NFL owners would be better served to adjust the catch ruling so that a catch like Dez Bryant against the Lions in the playoffs is ruled as a catch.

c_hawkbob wrote:Look at it as you choose. I didn't intend to hurt your feelings. I'm not going to apologize because my response was my honest reaction and that used to be what we expected of each other.
Setting the poll up to get a desired result is nothing new, you can usually tell the politics of a political poll's originator by the wording of the poll. I don't participate in those polls either.
