I hate this day...

‘Before this hits the media I just wanna apologize to my fans and the @Seahawks organization once again,” (Bruce) Irvin said on Twitter. “I made a terrible decision [by] driving after I had a few drinks. I will do everything to get ur trust back and will become a better person after this.”

And then, 25 minutes later, Irvin added this: “How many of yall thought I was serious ?! Haha April fools!!!”

Kind of a stupid gag, but stupid can still play ball.

Although it wasn't on April 1s, my favorite gag like that was when President Ronald Reagan said this: "My fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you that I have just signed legislation that will outlaw the Soviet Union forever. We begin bombing in 5 minutes."

It was a poor choice of topics for Irvin to make a joke about, but it could have been worse I suppose.

I saw an interview with Dan Reeves when he was talking about the morning before the NFL Championship game (pre Super Bowl) between Dallas and Green Bay, the now legendary Ice Bowl. The morning of the game, there was a rumor going around that Cowboys quarterback Don Meredith had fallen through a plate glass window and severely injured himself, and sure enough, Dandy Don showed up to their pre game breakfast with a face looking like Freddy Krueger. After getting everyone on edge, Meredith peeled off the make-up ( he had a Hollywood make-up artist prepare him) and revealed his completely healthy face.
