The problem with this taking time: It leaves an information vacuum during a time in the NFL calendar when we are four months from real games. Heck, there isn’t even a Seahawks’ mandatory minicamp at which Wilson is expected to be slinging passes for another month. And in today’s world of sound bites, clicks and immediate gratification, such vacuums get filled with varying degrees of inaccurate information. Because it’s such a high-profile player on the two-time defending NFC champions, the inaccurate info flies more than footballs do from now until training camp begins in July.
So relax — if you can. These things take time.

Now, there is some truth coming into focus. We all know the "Russell Years" It's been a nice ride, but If I had to make a choice this second to which story holds the most truth ... the tipping point is Russell's tweets. I'm sorry, but maybe you could try to blow off one or two, but there is no way that he wouldn't have come forward by now to say that those AREN'T directed toward JS. Those are bold statements being made by Russell and not so veiled threats.
I'll take 3 more years, but it's now looking more and more that exactly what we were all worried about is actually coming true. The "I" is now far more important then the "WE" and the players are going public to show it. It all started with Marshawn getting his... now it's Russell, Irvin, Bennett and I'm sure others we haven't heard from.
And, why haven't we heard anything about a new contract with Swezzy and Wags among others.
A lot of people have said that when Russell came due, we would lose a lot more then we all thought. Wags is top 3 ML. Can we afford him for 4 years?
jshawaii22 wrote:... Dude unless you can say for a fact they are directed towards the FO you really have nothing. Wilson has been making tweets like that his whole career. He has said nothing that can be without a doubt directed at the FO. Further more nothing he has said or done says the I is more important than WE. You have no clue what has really been offered, no clue what he really wants. You are acting just like the media you know nothing so you are just making it up. So give it a break

Anthony, I don't know any more then you do. Don't shoot me, I'm not the one who is the messenger. I'm on your side. I hope it's all a mirage and that it will all work out. I'm sure Russell will explain that those were about his ex-wife or something, but I've been a follower of Russell and I don't remember anything that comes close to those words.
He's a God fearing, world loving young man with very, very high aspirations and a unusual non-football manager and 'team' of advisers. He's also already one of the highest grossing players for outside income. Not bad for the 31st highest paid starting QB in the NFL. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

This should put some perspective into what we will expect to pay for a SB winning QB.
mykc14 wrote:Tannehill's contract really isn't that bad. It's basically a 6 year 95 mil contract, which is almost 16 mil/year, with 45 guaranteed. This doesn't increase RW's value at all. If he would have signed for 20 mil a year then it would be alarming.

@DavisHsuSeattle sounds like NFL views Tannehill deal as 4/77...so the 4/80 standing offer for Wilson is NOT going to cut it...#seahawks"
Yeah this might not help the Hawks case at all.
jshawaii22 wrote:I think that's the remaining two years of his rookie deal plus 4 years (6 total @ 96 m) --- I heard it was through 2020, too. Does the NFL not count the 2 existing years for an 'extension'?
jshawaii22 wrote:the question of course then is... how much more is Russell worth? Tannehill is not quite 50% wins, with a lower QBR, probably 10% of the rushing yards and no ring.
Damn, Russell should be 25m a year... no wonder the team is contemplating the next 2 years on a Franchise Tag basis...

Exactly this is essentially a 6 year 96 mil/yr deal. The 4 year 77 mil dollar deal is new money.
obiken wrote:Define enough? Offering him 10 mil a year would be a monumental slap in the face. Really, I wish someone would slap me in the face with that kind of dough!.
