This year's cuts are starting

It's always a sad time of year, but the cuts are beginning for 2015.
Who do you think will be a surprise cut on the Seahawks - if any?
Mildly surprising to me might be WR Kevin Norwood. He was injured last year, but I haven't seen much of him this year.
I really liked how he played at Alabama and he became a clutch receiver for them and McCarron but he hasn't shown much of it in his time here.
Jesse Williams might also be the odd man out - and maybe Scruggs, too as the DL seems pretty deep.

I will throw out Jermaine Kearse as a surprise cut - Only because of Salary cap constraints and need for money from somewhere (his salary is $2.5 Million) - Plus he is number 3 behind Baldwin and Lockett (soon) and his production can be picked up by the returning Paul Richardson and Mathews and also Jimmy Graham with the TE getting many more targets than ever before.
AS I indicated earlier on another thread - if possible I would have cut Kearse to pay a good chunk of the 4.4 million that E Mathis signed for in Denver.

Rob Rang - who is a good analyst of NFL & College talent as anyone - has his projections for the first wave of cuts.
Surprised to see Sokoli on his list (I will have to disagree with this):

Would have liked to see more of Rod Smith.
Don't know if he is practice squad eligible; would think so.
And don't know if he didn't show well in practice.
Liked what I saw in one of the games, though against back ups.

Could be on Kearse but I don't think so, too much experience.

Danny Kelly, of Field Gulls, has his 15 with a few other names as possibilities.

I was not all the surprised by Norwood getting cut, he hasn't really shown up when he did get time this preseason. I think Kearse could get cut too he has looked flat out terrible the times the ball has came his way (imo). I think Daniels will make the roster when give the chance he has put 110% out on the field not to mention he could be good for an occasional gadget play.

I'm disappointed that Norwood's game hasn't translated to the NFL - or at least with the Seahawks. I was hoping he could become a larger Baldwin type of player and come up with the big plays as he did at Alabama.

I think he'll make it to the PS and keep working on it.

Do first cuts regularly make it to the PS or are they usually the final cuts?

From PFT:
"Per Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the compensation is an undisclosed draft pick. This is the the kind of trade that happens often at this stage of the preseason and often involves a conditional draft pick — and generally a seventh-rounder — based on how much Norwood eventually contributes to the Panthers. "
Yaayy, another late round DL to try to turn into and OL from next years draft!

I think Lem being cut is an indication that Setele may be a Seahawk soon.

Interesting take on this move, but it would make sense for a year to have a veteran around if even as a backup considering the relative inexperience of the remaining Centers.

Hmmm... I wonder if cutting Lem had anything to do with retaining Salary cap, maybe to try to move it to Kam.

He only counted about $565,000 against the cap so it wouldn't be much.
Every bit counts and if we add in Norwoods contract of about $510,000 it might be part of an overall plan.
However, it really goes against the FO philosophy about contracts.

All makes perfect sense, save the Lem cut. I hope you are right, Bob & that we make some moves as fewer olinemen w/ experience is hardly what I'd like to see. It's a little unsettling, really. Lem did ok last year, I thought. I know the youngster has a higher ceiling, but
I guess we like Nowak and Lewis.

Greg Scruggs and Lemanuel Jeanpierre being cut before the final round I found to be a bit surprising. Best of luck, guys ... thanks for your contributions as Seahawks!
GO SEAHAWKS!!!

Scruggs and Lapew being cut early is that "professional courtesy" mentioned in the Rang Report. Lapew surprised me, at least this early but Novak had beat him out but the Scruggs cut didn't surprise me because it had been mentioned that he was being pushed and was on the bubble.
My surprise cut" Ricardo Lokette. Should have caught that ball dude...
Really, when you never here a players name mentioned much after 3 PS games you have to expect they are gone.
