Good Morning fellow Shackers and faithful fans of the WORLD CHAMPION SEATTLE SEAHAWKS! WOW! That just happened!
Not even sure where to start, it was such an amazing, emotion filled day. Here we go.
- 12's were loud! Several of us commented on that it felt like a HOME game! You could here a pin drop when Russ and crew were shredding the Broncos. I think the Denver fans learned a little something about passion, the 12's and noise we can create. So damned cool!
- The Bronco's were well represented. We were wondering where they all came from given we didnt see many around town, apparently they saved their Orange stuff for game day. I thought we were out numbered but I think the Orange just really stands out. Probably closer to 50/50 or maybe the Hawks had a slight edge. We know which fan base brought it tho...
- Best 12's new chant I've participated in coming from our section - "OmaHawk!"
- Best "SEA HAWKS" chant - right as they dimmed the lights for the half time show and it was quieted down as people prepared for whatever was happening next, SEA HAWKS breaks out and it was loud. And Awesome.
- Skittles flooded the end zone when the Beast scored. The Donkeys around us had no idea what was hitting them. btw - on that extra point, I guess we were on TV. My phone started blowing up with people saying they saw us.
- The 12's in our section nearly lost our minds on the Pick Six, not quite Beast Quake intensity, but it was special for sure. It also sent 4 Bronco fans back to where ever they were staying. I'm bummed they felt compelled to leave, but we loved all the extra room. I'll have to dig through my sea of pictures, but there was a time when all the Orange in our section was sitting and of course the 12's were standing. Seeing it live, you knew exactly how each fan base was feeling. I hope it turns out.
- The one thing about Super Bowls is you stand in some serious lines. Like 2 plus hours worth of line. We were standing with 6 Bronco Diehards to get into Met Life. Of course we each knew who was going to win... anyway, of all the banter and debate, what really stands out was their complete disregard for our WR's. As if they shouldnt even show up given they were going to be non-factors. How about Baldwin and Kearse tearing up numerous Broncos or just making them miss on their way to the Endzone. I wish I could have recorded that conversation.
- Speaking of making Broncos miss, Percy. I know we've had some healthy debate, but wow. I mean really wow. Happy for him.
- Coolest idea by a 12. This guy had a 12 Flag draped as a cape and a sharpie. He approached anyone in Hawk Blue and had them sign it. Really neat idea, I wish I had thought of that. I'll get one in Phoenix!
- It was cool to see all of the more recognizable Hawk fans in NY. (the white fur coat/green suit guy, the painted Hulk et) Mama and Papa Hawk (I think that's what they call themselves - the couple in full uni's/face paint et) sat in the row behind us.
- The Half Time show was super impressive. I'm not rushing out to buy a Bruno Mars album, but it was a really great show.
- Plenty of tears of joy rolling down a lot of cheeks of the 12's. Myself included.
- A funny little tidbit; everyone is snapping pictures and asking to have their picture taken et. A couple in row in front of us happen to capture a really photo of us as she was getting the score board. Anyway, we swapped number so she could text it. Turns out they just bought a home in Bend, our town. In our community. Bends pop is just north of 80k, Metlife held 82.5k. Funny to think 6 of us Bend folk (that I know of) were within a row of one another.
- Okay, so a quick gripe. I hate to complain, because it was such an Awesome day, but getting to/from Metlife via the trains was a nightmare. We only took the trains because the SB recommended it. To sum it up, it took 4+ hours to get from hotel to our seats. 2 plus hours standing shoulder to shoulder on a PACKED train platform with no movement. Leaving was even worse. Whomever was responsible for moving people swiftly to/from the Stadium was seriously asleep at the wheel. Oh and to be expected, prices of stadium fare... wow. When hot dogs are $16, you know you're in for an expensive day. Security. I know it's super important and unfortunately a part of our lives now, but they have to figure out a more efficient way. That's it, done complaining.
- The good news is we arent quitters and didnt let the train fiasco dampen our spirits. Once we were back in the City, we found several places to celebrate. And we did. As rowdy as the 12's were on Fri/Sat nights, we were 10X last night. "SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!" all night long. The few Bronco fans I spoke with post game were in shock. They literally couldnt believe how Kam and Boys completely kicked the shyt out of their beloved Broncos.
- I guess the team party was riot with Mclemore and others playing. Once we settled into a couple 100 fans in a pub closer to our Hotel, we decided to stay. NY bars are open until 4, some of them will keep pouring as long as there are patrons. I left at 5 as a WORLD CHAMPION! Damn it, I still cant believe it.
Time to pack up and rally. Thanks for letting me share. I'll see about getting some pics up over the next day or two. Thanks again for the Platform Yoder!
btw - looking out the hotel window to a couple inches of snow and it looks to really be coming down. Travel should be awesome!
