Road Trip, Anyone?

It's not too early to start a conversation about a possible road trip. I have some airline mileage that's burning a hole in my pocket and my wife doesn't care for traveling or for football. I want to go to at least one and possibly two road games this coming season. I went to the Houston game last year and had a blast. If you haven't been to one, I'd highly recommend it. There's something about "invading" enemy territory.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to be going to the Arizona game. I have a brother and sister-in-law that are in the process of moving to the Phoenix area this summer so I might want to kill two birds with one stone. Unless that game is on a very unworkable weekend, like Christmas or Thanksgiving, I'm probably going to attend that game. My thoughts are to combine it with a Las Vegas/Grand Canyon adventure. Another one that's on our radar is San Diego, or as a last resort, Philadelphia. I already have a couple of interested 12th man'ers. Of course, we'll have to wait until the dates are finalized in April.
So what say you?

I have friends in SCG that I typically visit every year who I'm skipping seeing this spring (in favor of LV), so a fall trip might be a good time.
Count me in as a strong maybe.
You golf?

Once or twice a year, but I'd like to do it more often, actually have golfed in Phoenix before. My brother and sister in law are avid golfers.
Let's stay in touch.
BTW, where in the hell is 'SCG'?

When do you deploy, IG?
My preference for the AZ game is that it not be in September. It's too damn hot down there (although like here, it's dry heat) and my brother-in-law doesn't move down there until this Sept. I have several friends at work that are itching to go on a road trip and AZ is the easiest option for us here in the Tri Cities as we have cheap, direct flights to both Vegas and Phoenix. Plus game tickets are easy to come by as the Cards have one the most apathetic fan bases in the league. This season there were so many Hawks fans there it sounded like a home game. Back in 2009, I was able to buy tickets over their team's website at face value. We'll have to act quickly this season as I imagine they'll be in high demand this year.
If I recall, the schedule dates are released in April.

Sounds like a good trip, River. I'll be watching for the dates to see it is a good weekend for me. Had a great time in Houston, so I'd like to do something like that again. Keep us posted.

Not deploying for awhile...it's just the regular local area stuff. We have a couple of things on the slate for the fall, but I should be able to swing a weekend jaunt if we are not out at sea.
If not Arizona, San Diego would be a great trip.

I plan on making it to San Diego. It would be cool to meet up pre/post game. Keep us posted.

For RD or anyone else - If you can manage to get tix within your budget, the 49ers' new Levis Stadium looks to be a great venue. Just about any other NFL stadium will be cheaper, no doubt, but this fall will mark the 1st time we roll into their new place as SB champs, officially kicking off an even more intense rivalry.
Its location in Santa Clara is also Miles ahead of that dump they played in before. The neighborhood isn't ghetto in the least, and will be much easier to leave postgame.
I would love to make it their to see our newly crowned team, as I live 15 minutes away from the place, but it's too far ahead for me to plan. Whether or not I end up going, I would be happy to meet up with anybody here who's in town for that game to buy them a drink of their choice, and talk some Seahawks with person(s) whom I otherwise only communicate via forum.
We'll play it by ear.

I plan on attending the AZ game. If you are packaging some Vegas time into that, it's possible that you could just get your flights to Vegas & back, & then drive with me down to AZ. There will be 2 of us in a Toyota FJ, so there will be room for you. I can show you some cool stuff to do in Vegas as well. Stuff the tourists don't know or are privy to. We can split the fuel costs & tailgate at the game. The atmosphere there is definitely strong. This is the closest game to SoCal in the hawks division schedule so all the soCal hawkers attend. Now next season may be different since we play in SD, but I imagine that it'll still be well attended by the 12's. Once the dates firm up let's talk some more.

In addition to the AZ game, I am always up to see the Hawks play in SD, it's one of my favorite cities, (next to Seattle). The people are laid back, & the tailgating is awesome. It's a 5 hr drive for me & I've done it many times. Let's talk more after the dates are set.

That sounds good, Vegas! Thanks for the invite, I'll keep in mind. One of my options is to spend an entire week in the southwest and making a couple day trip to the Grand Canyon, of which I've only seen just a glimpse of, before heading down to Phoenix. But it's obviously very early in the planning stages. San Diego is definitely on the radar. It all depends on how the schedule falls.
I've thought about SF, too, Zorny, but it's probably #3 or #4 on my wish list for this season, but definitely one of these years I plan on making it to a game down there. For sure we'll hook up when I eventually make it to the Bay Area.

The three games I have heard mention, Arizona, San Diego and San Francisco is music to my ears as I will most likely be going to all of them. My buddy and I have been going to the Arizona game every year and it is a lot of fun. It's almost a home game there are so many Hawk fans there. I doubt the fact that the Hawks are playing in San Dieog this year will change that.
Would love to meet up with ya'll. Hopefully Sis is doing well enough to make one or more as well.

Now that the schedule's out, I thought I'd dig up this thread.
I've committed to going to the Arizona game. My in laws are moving down there in September and I have sufficient airline mileage to make the trip financially viable. Tickets are relatively cheap compared to other NFL venues and we might even be able to pick some up off the team website when individual game tickets go on sale. I know of a couple other friends that are very interested in going. If anyone else is interested, we might be able to hook up and share some expenses on rooms, car rentals, etc.
The other game I'm looking at is San Diego, but it comes a tad too early in the season.

I am looking forward to sitting with a bunch of Seahawks fans. Go HAWKS!
Just an FYI...this is the group that created the GO HAWKS banner that flew over Candlestick.

Yea, maybe some day we can meet up, but the east coast isn't in my summertime plans this year.
Pasadena, we'll have to make a note to hook up in Arizona. I'm sure there'll be an opportunity sometime that weekend. I have a brother-in-law that's moving to the Phoenix area that loves to golf so I'm sure I'll hit a course or two while I'm in the area, if that's something that interests you. We'll stay in touch.

Then there's always China.

Maybe some day, Eagle, but not until I retire. I have a friend that did a tour of China, said it was fascinating, and I have it on my bucket list. But not for awhile.
