Good article justifying why he should sign.

Now go get em'! Especially with the Cardinals adding Cromartie today. Time to remind who's got the West's scariest defense! :x

If we get Allen its a wrap.
Extra deep means we can rotate and keep our guys fresh. Good move if it happens.

Yeah, swapping out Chris Clemons for sack machine Jared Allen, GREAT MOVE!!! I love it, puts the cherry on the top of our pass rush. Fear the LOB even more rest of the league, Seahawks defense will be even better in 2014-15 than they were last season.

I'm not going to celebrate until I hear what he signed for.

The nice thing about Allen is he's not too bad against the run, either if they should choose to use him that way at times. He has very good ball awareness.

Wow...he's ours.
Man...the Seahawks just waited him out, and got the guy who really fits best, and who they really wanted the most all along, AND got him for less than they normally would have had to pay if they'd rushed to sign him.
Freakin amazing. 8-)

I like Jared, and he's certainly still producing, but I'm just not sure how I feel about an aging pass rusher being brought in. I guess the $ will make the difference with me, too.

Feels a lot like Patrick Kerney, maybe?

Personally I would have felt good had we kept Clem, at a reduced salary, but to get Allen is a big upgrade. Not only is he an all time great pass rusher but he is good against the run and younger than Clem. I haven't seen the numbers yet but this is a great signing! Patrick Kerney isn't in the same league as Allen. I can't remember how old he as when we brought him in (early 30's I think) but he hadn't had near the career numbers as Allen. Also, he did have a huge season for us his first year here. Don't forget that Allen is going to motivated to be on a team with this type of potential and he is closing in on being in the top 5 all time sack leaders in NFL history. That is huge motivation.

Well, I am looking at his age as a virtual non factor because it is offset by those intangible things that really define who Jared Allen is.
If EVER there is an NFL player who just OOZES Pete Carrol's philosophy it is Jared Allen. No defensive player plays to the whistle or give more effort on each and every play than Allen does. Allen was just a bron competitor, it's what he does with everything.
He's ALL ABOUT effort and high, high motor. When you look up "high motor" in the NFL terminology definitions book, it just shows a picture of Jared Allen.
Unlike Peppers who throughout his career has gotten by on other worldly talent to make up for outright laziness on some plays, Allen just never ever quits.
Speaking as a guy who has undoubtedly watched more Vikings games than most Seahawks fans, you'll just have to trust me when I say, Allen was BORN to play for Pete Carrol!

Best part though is, since Allen will be used in more of a part time role than he was with Minnesota, it should get him through the length of this contract intact, and may even extend his career.
As a part of a sub package, we will see Allen at a high level all the time...if that doesn't excite you as a Seahawks fan, then I don't know what to tell you!
Allen is a perfect fit to what we do, and probably the best replacement (upgrade IMO) imaginable for Chris Clemons.

Allen should flourish in front of our 12th man. I could see him getting 10 sacks just at home next year. This more than makes up for losing Clem as he didn't have all that great of a season anyway. Allen has been remarkably consistent over his career, hasn't suffered any major injuries, and as others have noted, isn't a liability on run defense. As long as it doesn't hurt our ability to resign our Big 3 (Thomas, Sherman, and Wilson), I'm all for the deal.

But I'm still twiddling my thumbs waiting for Pete and John to do something about our OL. I guess I'll just have to wait until the draft.

He has more milage because Clemons was a part time player earlier in his career but Jared Allen is actually younger than Clemons.

lol, yep.

Was at another site, read the comments, and assumed it was done deal and posted how great it was to have him.

Simply put, and as I've been spamming elsewhere here and there already, the guy is Walking away from a ring if he goes to another team or retires. This should be a no-brainer for him. He's made a ton of cash already, and Seattle is his only legit shot at a Lombardi.

Hope he comes to his senses and signs on to be a Hawk. He'll regret it the rest of his life if he quits now, IMO.

Once he says yes, this weekend, THEN he is ours.
