Saw this on thought I would share. I hope he steps up and can compete at the NFL level. His highlight reel from college is impressive. At times he reminds me of Sherman with his pass defense, of Kam with some of his hits, and dare I say Thomas with his closing speed.

I do think that Simon is the guy that the front office was looking at as "next man up" when they let Browner and Thurmond walk.
We have other guys as well obviously, but judging by comments from both John and Pete, it is clearly Simon who made those Pete and John feel comfortable enough with our depth that we could let those two go.

Simon will most likely turn out to be yet another Pete Carroll "find", and someday, whether with us or another team, be a starter, and likely a very good one at that.
We fans should be high on this guys potential, Pete and john both are.

A very good point, and also a big part of why it is that John's plan for this off season included allowing some of our depth to go elsewhere.
As fans we are only able to see the players who are actually out on the field, so we see that we have good depth and worry when some of it leaves. What we cannot know, is that behind those guys we lost, were players who are potentially even better in some cases, or at least as good in others.

John and Pete are absolutely counting on several of the players we drafted and then got "redshirted" whether due to injury or for whatever reason, to take the places of those who left, without us missing a beat.
I would bet my last paycheck, they are right about those guys, (like Simon) and that they will provide the same level of consistency (or greater) off the bench as their predecessors did.
You may feel free to look at Percy Harvin as a red shirt last year as well, and count the loss of Golden Tate as part of that.
The part of Golden Tate will now be played by Percy Harvin.
Best part is, Percy Harvin is the player who Pete had in mind for the role we he made the blueprint in the first place. Harvin is the "archetype".

He looks from the link like he has some real good ball skills with a good burst on the ball.
I think one clip was where he was running with Tavon Austin, so his speed is legit.

He also ran back a couple of interceptions. I wonder if there is any thought of having him return punts?

There's also Hill to get more playing time as well.
Lots of competition there, too. It makes me wonder if we can keep them all happy with playing time.

Simon worries me. I posted a link right after last seasons draft about the players the trainer refused to be interviewed about because they missed rehab time, faked injuries and missed practice time because they weren't willing to play through minor bumps and bruises, players listed were according to the trainer selfish and incapable of putting the team first. Of those 5 or 6 listed, Seattle drafted 2. Simon and Ware. Both players missed most of last season with injuries.....?

Not saying that the guy didn't have some sort of grudge or that both players won't change that, or that it wasn't even accurate to begin with, just that after seeing that, AND how they missed time because of injury, isn't what I was hoping for, and it concerns me that they will never be key contributors.

Here's why I disagree with that take. If the issue was being soft these guys simply would have been cut. They had no reason to keep 6 RBs or or 6 corners let alone cut Winfield to keep Simon. They sacrificed depth at other positions so they could keep Ware and Simon knowing that neither would see the field whether they were healthy or not. That leads me to believe they saw something special there and IR was a way to stash them.

Have no problem with your guys take on that, and honestly hope I'm wrong ( though I was not impressed with pretty much anything Ware did while playing in the pre season), just saying why I have concerns about them. With the initial information coming out of college, plus the missing of all of last season, it causes concerns for me personally. Like I said it doesn't mean that will end up being the case, or that their future is set in stone or anything, just that it wasn't a great start coming off that information, and it is something that worries me, at least at this point.

Would it have been Simon, Shead, or maybe Thurmond, Maxwell, or Browner? I think one of them might have had to go and who knows what the choice might have been?
Now we have some room for the young guys to step up and show what they have to contribute instead of having some depth issues.
