Russell Wilson is tough!

I was just re-watching the NFC Championship game tonight and Ahmad Brooks cheap shots RW like 3 times. He does that thing when the DL hits the qb and puts all of his weight 'dead' weight on him, which is supposed to be roughing the passer, but is rarely called. Anyway, RW really got rocked on those, especially that long throw to Baldwin in the 2nd quarter, Brooks totally could have just hit him normal, but he rolls onto him and drives him into the ground. Every time RW just gets back up like he wasn't fazed at all. Thinking back on the year there were a ton of times he just got the chit knocked out of him and he got up every time. I also remember the time JJ Watt destroyed him. I mean he JJ was a full sprint for like 15 yards and Russ was running towards the LOS and just let the ball go when he got DESTROYED by Watt. It might be the hardest hit I have ever seen a qb take. But Russ just got right back up. JJ actually got the worst of it as that was the play where he cut the bridge of his nose open and had to bandage it the rest of the year.

Anyway, this thread basically is just about how stinking tough RW is. The line was bad last year (and that is not what I want this thread to be about) and RW got punished because of it, but he got up every time. Just another great attribute of our amazing qb. Man are we lucky to have him.

Just pile this onto the items in which RW ranks among the elite. Then watch Priso sh*t his pants.

Great post, mykc14.

There are lots of things that stick out about the 2013 Seahawks during the regular season, and RW's play is chief among those things.

The kid just gets it. He has...IT. You know? And him getting up off the turf after taking big hits speaks volumes about his toughness and character at large.

Little did Seattle know, 2 yrs ago, that they would end up finding a franchise QB that not only showed early promise, but would, in fact, make them a Super Bowl Champion.

We hit the football lottery with #3. We really did. And I think before all is said and done, we will win 2 more SB's with RW as our QB, maybe more. He makes everybody around him better, and he's only scratched the surface in terms of what he's capable of as an NFL quarterback.

I think RW is tough, especially in the mental toughness area. The dude prepares more than anyone I have ever seen.

I gotta say I agree with both of you on this.
Every time I watch a game from last year I think of how much he has grown as a QB, his efficiency, and lack of mental errors.
He's not just physically tough, but like you said, mentally tough, too and that's not always a common trait amongst QBs.

Not a lot to disagree with in this thread. Russell Wilson is tough, both physically and emotionally.

Matt Hassselbeck was tough, too. He played through multiple injuries during his tenure with us, never afraid to jam his head in and block when need be (he took out two Rams defenders in one play once).

A few other 'tough' quarterbacks that come to mind when I think of the subject is Jim Kelly, Dan Pastorini, and Roman Gabriel.

Yep, and I think this is something that gets overlooked a lot.

Agreed Burr and RD.

MH was tough as nails. Especially towards the end when his body started breaking down on him.
