Aldon gets a midemeandor charge imagine that!

Postby Hawktawk » Thu Apr 24, 2014 7:35 pm

So apparently Aldon Smiths terroristic threat has been shuffled down to city hall. I'm sure they will throw the book at him LMFAO. Something about being a Niner in the bay area. Rape, assault, DUI, drug possession, weapons charges melt away. But hey its all about winning on Sunday right? Above reproach at all times.................

Never expected it to be anything more than that really, and I'm not entirely sure it would be any different for any other football player that happened to do the same stupid thing in any airport across the US. That said, it isn't going to help him in the least when it comes time for his hearings on the multiple felony charges, or with the league. The continued stupidity will catch up with him eventually, and that time should be within the next month or so.....

Hey HT, did they throw out the bomb charge?
That would not surprise me, I bet dozens of people get arrested for joking like that when drunk, at airport, and they drop charges.
I think its reasonable.

But what did he a get a misdemeanor to? (At work where the censors are on).

I am still wondering exactly what he said. Does anyone know? I keep rhinking of that scene in "Meet The Fockers".

Stiller: "I didn't say I have a bomb! I said it's not like I HAVE a bomb!"

Passenger: "He said bomb! You can't say bomb on a plane!"

Stiller: "Bombbombabombombomb! Bomb bomb!"

Next scene Dinero greets him in the interrogation room.

T.O.-esque this guy. I watched a program about TOs early years and my heart literally ached for him. I don't want the Hawks and their iffy O-line to face a mentally & physically heathy Aldon twice/thrice a year, but I'd prefer that to seeng him spiral out of control. As many of y'all remember, 8 years ago I lost a nephew to drug addiction and subsequent suicide. I don't wish that on anyone. I hope he's getting the help he needs; if he worked for me, I'd sure as hell try.

This is pretty much what I expected, and I'm glad they decided to go the misdemeanor route. It's pretty obvious he didn't intend to act on those threats and that it was a knee jerk reaction to his being subjected to a search that others weren't required to undergo. I see no reason to throw the book at him. A relatively small fine with no jail time.

But the incident shouldn't be taken as lightly by the Commish. It's an indication that Smith still doesn't 'get it', and is begging of some pretty stiff discipline.

No surprise, and it's the right call. Seriously, did anybody really think they were going to make it a felony?

He'll still miss some games. It'll be interesting to see how many, and Adam Schefter was thinking he may miss the entire season via his comments on espn last week, but who knows.

In the end, I think they keep the guy. They're certainly going to bend as far as they can with him, because he's too valuable to simply cut.

A side note to his effectiveness will be how the other Smith does this season - Justin. He's going to be 35 this year, and when he missed time in 2012, Aldon's effectiveness went out the window during that time. The "Cowboy" is a great player, but I think this is it for him after 2014.

Not sure how much age will limit J. Smiths effectiveness, he could probably play for several more seasons in the role he currently fills, how hard can it be to grab an offensive lineman or two? ;)

Considering his style of play, I would think that he could continue playing at a high level for another year or two. You're exactly right about J. Smith's presence affecting A. Smith's performance. Aldon was just another DE when J. Smith was out.
