Will Russell? Yes, he's $$$$$ #1

Russell Wilson, the phenomenum, has just been ranked #1, according to Forbes Magazine.

So for all you athletic supporters out there with a Seahawks logo on them who can't breathe because there is not enough national attention ... please stop leaking with your support.

Forbes reported that the NFLPlayesInc statistics showed that the Hawks QB sold more bucks worth of overall licensed products from over 70 licensees than any other NFL player this past season.

The VP of Licensing for the NFLPI said "He absolutely is a national player. His product is selling everywhere". Yeah, it's a billion dollar biz.

Still not enough national wallet recognition for this team?

Marsh the Lynch came in as seventh highest in gross sales ... the only non-QB in the top ten.

And the Sherman Thanks, and the Sherman Ranks, and the Sherman Banks came in at #12, barely beaten out by JJ Watt ... and Sherman has a much more highly publicized off season.

My guess is that if you cheked the cash registers and their sales for the past week, that 3, count 'em 3, Hawks players would be in the top ten.

Go back four years, and you probably would not find anyone from this franchise in the top 25, not 1, count 'em none.

There were lots of 8's and 51's, but many were faded.

No, I don't think the organization will be discounting your season tickets as a result next year, either.

Good for Russ. I hope he gets a cut from every piece of merchandise with the 3 on it.
It will help with his low salary.

I just hope being #1 in merchandise sales doesn't equate to wanting #1 average salary after this year.

This was over the entire year but I remember seeing one that was for the last 3 months shortly after the Superbowl and if memory serves, Wilson was either #1 or #2. Sherman was #7 or #8 (the only non QB) and Lynch and the #12 were both in the top 20 somewhere.

People can say what they want about the Seahawks "stealing" the 12th man but it says a lot that the Seahawks were able to propel the #12 jersey that high. Has to be only the second time a jersey without a real football player's name made it that high nationally (the other time being the Falcon's #7 Jersey reading "Mexico").

Curious as well, even googled it to find out, unfortunately, while the question was asked numerous times, there was no definitive answer. 50/50 yes and no, with no links, and even the "yes" said the amount was so insignificant as to not matter ( after the NFL AND TEAM got their cut). So I'm going with even IF they get a percentage, it doesn't matter, otherwise players that change their names or jersey numbers wouldn't have to "buy" out the remaining stock to do so, without having their percentage cover that cost. "Hitner" hasn't changed his even though he changed his name legally, Peterson wanted to change his number I guess a few years back but decided the cost was to great etc.

if someone actually knows the answer that would be a cool thing to know, but like I said, pretty sure it is insignificant to the point as to be irrelevant one way or another...

When did you get a "Zoom 00"? What happened to "O. Schmitt 35"?

I saw this and immediately wondered what ever happened to the runaway beer truck from W. Va. Looks like he never amounted to anything in the NFL. Raiders cut him.

If the player gets $10 per unit sold, and 10,000 are bought by us fans, that's $100,000.
Not really insignificant if you're only (relatively speaking) making around $600,000.

No way does a player gets $10 per Jersey sold.... maybe 10 cents but even that is in question, the NFL,team, producer, and seller all get their cuts first, and there isn't any info otherwise that I could find. If you can find something, I would indeed be really interested in reading it, but haven't seen a thing on it.

I guess the only way to find out is to look at Whitner and find out how much he was supposed to pay back if he changed his name.
We could then guess what the player would get. Considering he didn't want to follow through it might be more than we think.

Wilson jerseys go for between $100 and $300.
3 -10% isn't much to give a player.

It's something that would be interesting to find out.
Maybe it's part of individual contract negotiations.

Edit:
A quick look online had one site saying 83cents and another saying it's determined by the contract where the total worth of the player is taken into consideration.
I would guess of the 2 that it's part of the compensation package negotiated with the player so it would be different depending on the player.

Dog: "ZOOOOM" 00 was a Christmas present from daughter Jennifer, and I've already broken it in.

PasAltaDena: Mr. O. Schmitt is now running "Schmitt's Saloon" in Morgantown, WV. Live music some nights. David Allan Coe who wrote "Take This Job and Shove It", "You Never Even Call Me By My Name" and "Long Haired Redneck" played there last week. He's given up the mohawk for a shaggy hairdo and full beard. So, he's still affiliated with Runaway Beer Trucks.

Anybody willing to bang their head to spew blood in a team meeting is good by me. Any coming up in the draft?

No, you haven't "broken it in" yet. You haven't given me an opportunity to spill a beer on your new "Zoom 00" as I did with "O. Schmitt 35.". Only then will it bring us good luck.

Can we plan an event to properly christen your new adornment? Perhaps the Packers opener?

Packers opener is out because David wears his split personality GB wtih Hawks gear to games ... and Diane is insistent she accompany us.

There was some beer being tossed from The Nest in the first playoff game, and the cop standing behind us was not happy about it. He made a trip up into the stands a few minutes after the shower which inaugurated the 00.

But, we'll get a game in, Dog, hopefully early on.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to attend the Packers game, although I'm not sure about tickets. I might just pick some up on game day. After following this team from the get go, I think I ought to be present for the hoisting of the banner, especially since I wasn't there for the parade. So we'll have to meet up at a watering hole before hand, and give me a chance to slop some beer on Otto.
