John Schneider tells me it's "fairly realistic" the Seahawks trade out of their 1st round pick. Says he is talking to a few teams.

I'd prefer they do trade out if at all possible.
I think most people assume it won't happen because it hasn't at 32 in so long no one remembers when it has.
That doesn't mean it can't or won't though, especially in a draft where it's SO deep.

If Seattle found a way to trade down, and still get someone like Joel Bitonio or Cody Latimer, I'd be ecstatic.

Not shocking at all, but interesting Schneider would comment about it.

For John to openly talk about ANYTHING with the draft...well that's as shocking as anything that's happened all this offseason!
He NEVER talks about what he wants to do when it comes to the draft.

Hence the wink and roll of the eyes. I've been saying they would for 3 or 4 weeks, so no not shocking in the least to me.

It's what many of us hope for. Let's see if he can pull it off.

What was it Mike Holmgren said? Everybody lies this time of year.

But I do think moving down is very possible. We aren't in a position where we can draft a truly impact player or even move up far enough if one happens to fall shallower than #20 or so, plus we are without a 3rd rounder, so trading down in a draft that's overstocked with players at positions we're in need of makes a whole lot of sense. But it takes two to tango.

Some team will fall in love with a QB at the end of the first round and will be hot an bothered to jump Houston before they can call his name.

Yep totally agree... If a QB falls to that spot I think a trade down is almost a lock.

It worked out as planned.
I suspect he had some options depending on who was on the board.
8 spots for an extra 4th round pick is worth it.

I agree. I think we all do.

There are several good OL prospects that are still on the board and should still be there at #40, if we decide to select one (*cough*, Do It! *cough*).

If not (*sigh), then I would grab another DL, either for additional depth for the interior, or the best available pass rusher left on the board. I think with a (hopefully) healthy Harvin and Rice, we can wait on WR until later. I also wouldn't mind either LB or CB with our first pick if we skip our most important, glaring need.

They did as they said. They are in a great position. Many of our superstars are 4th and 5th rounders anyway.

Yeah - I didn't mind trading out of a round that we haven't been very good in overall anyway:)

They have a lot of Lineman left that are either great pass blockers, but not run blockers, ect. So At 40th they are going to get one of the guys out of Nev, UCLA, Virginia, or Tenn. I would have taken Lee, just because we saw out here on the West Coast, how he was not coverable 2 years ago with a good QB, but alas FB is about need not BAP.
