Dude. one thread about WC soccer would have been enough. This is a Seahawk forum after all.

The U.S.A. played great defense and that forced the OT but their legs grew tired and Belgium scored those two goals to take the win. Maybe if they would have started that guy from the Sounders instead of bringing him only after the other dude got hurt they may have scored. It wasn't until he came in that Team USA started getting a few shots on goal. Unfortunately, the Belgium team had a ratio of 10 to team USA's 1 shots on goal. The goalie for team USA played spectacularly as did the rest of the team defense, they just ran out of gas.

The Rah-Rah for the USA aside... soccer is so damn boring. It's beyond the Cleveland - Seahawks game a few years ago boring.

Exciting game, but not one I come to the Shack to discuss. But since I'm here...

-Yedlin was in for most of the game, so I don't think he was the problem. Remember that Fabian Johnson has been one of the best players on the squad in the WC this year.
-They missed Beckerman, big time. Not having him is what allowed so many shots on goal.
-The US needs better attacking midfielders to play an attacking possession game. All of those Belgian shots on goal were because the US kept turning it over in midfield without a deep defensive mid to stifle the attacks.
-Tim Howard is a god. Best individual performance I've ever seen in a soccer match.

To each their own, I guess. To me, soccer is behind only football and hockey in level of excitement. But, because Seattle doesn't have an NHL team, I've never gotten into hockey.
