And in the high-dollar real estate of the Bay Area, it just might mean the poor guy'll hafta start mowin' some lawns right now—while the grass is still green—to help pay the rent.
Ouch. Just. Ouch.

Lol he can room with me. It is totally fair. If you don't want to be in this position, don't give commish the chance to suspend you. Man for all the flak I took on this almost everything I guestimated actually happened.
I did like your post (as always). Made me laugh in the middle of the day.

It makes you wonder if the whole Ray Rice suspension, backlash, and then Goodell's admitted mistake influenced his decision at all. You would think that the suspension would be the same without this, but the timing is intriguing.

According to Ian Rapoport he already appealed and lost http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... nine-games
He is how ever able to "remain around the facility"

All bets are off when you've screwed up as much as Aldon has. I mean, just like anybody else (in the league), he put himself at risk for punishment for his transgressions.
And had Roger punished Rice the way he should've, Smith would likely be looking at about the same time he received today anyway. I think that's the point that folks are missing in the blogosphere of social media.

Four games for second violation of personal conduct policy. He walked on the airport bomb threat. Although I do think that issue compelled Goodell to not credit time for going to rehab last year since clearly he had continued drinking.
Pretty much in line with what anyone else would have got, he just piled his infractions up like cord wood.

Rice was one precident, Josh Gordon was another. Goodell couldn't have let Smith off with a 2 gamer like what was being reported a couple months ago. Once he brought the hammer down on those guys, there would have been a riot if he let Smith off easy.

if you add SF instead of general you got it right, if not, you are simply ignoring what is being said about him... again....selective reading and listening seems to be a strong suit for you.

"Speaking of nine games, we (or at least I) continue to believe that, with good behavior and given that Smith apparently waived his appeal rights under both policies, he possibly will be reinstated in fewer than nine games, if he can stay out of trouble and otherwise do what is expected of him."

I assume he probably has access to or contacts that can provide the actual text of the CBA and being a lawyer he has the ability and desire to understand the lawyerese, he might be right.
Even if the CBA is readily available online, he at least has more interest in trying to understand it than most of us.

I am a big fan of personal responsibility. Aldon put himself into this position, he got what he deserved.
At the same time I wonder where the supposed outrage would have come from had Aldon received, say 3 games. There is no national outrage when repeat DUI offender like Jerome Simpson is suspended just a couple of games. No outrage when any number of players with gun related charges are suspended. The common denominator is that none of them are going out trying to hurt people, and so people generally do not have the time to care.
The outrage comes with Aaron Hernandez. Michael Vick. Ray Rice. Players that have intent to do damage and succeed in doing so. Then you have PETA talking on a soap box. You have prominent female figures on a soap box. You have systematic scrutiny of a college system that did not help a kid that eventually committed multiple murders. I've yet to hear the national commentary on Aldon from any group or any public figure not directly tied to the NFL. Why? Because he was doing nothing but acting like an irresponsible idiot.
I guess we'l have to agree to disagree. Please note, if I were a "troll" though I had plenty of ammo to use after our respective team's performances on Thursday. For all the talk you had done regarding preseason play as an indication focus, quality of depth etc notice I left it alone on that thread - even though it boomeranged back at you.
With the issue at hand in this thread though I did want to illustrate that my original position had merit, that's all.

It's pretty hard to sell that claim to me as you have used, and continued to use, just about every possible twist to every possible angle to excuse Aldon Smith's behavior, from "it wasn't against the law in Arizona" to "he never actually meant to hurt anyone".

This from the guy that tried to sell us "it's better to be a criminal than a smack talker" ...
Obviously laundry is more important than personal responsibility.
