It's now September 4th.

Time to bang a gong, get it on.

Seahawks enter the season as first time SB Champs defending their title.

Another first, going for a second.

I am beyond stoked.

Rock out with your Lombardi out!

It's usually with a sense of mixed emotions for me when football season rolls around as it signals the end of summer and colder weather to follow, but this season is different. Not only are we coming off our first Lombardi winning season and I'm anxious to get started in a defense of our championship status, but I've had an especially difficult 3 months this past summer that included remodeling work in our home, a good friend that committed suicide, and several months of trips to nursing homes and hospitals that culminated in the death of my mother. There wasn't anytime to enjoy the summer and the great outdoors. The start of the NFL season is a signal that life for me is about to get back to normal.

I feel really good about this season. I know I've expressed grave doubts about our offensive line, and continue to bite my fingernails over them, but after watching Russell play in this preseason, I'm convinced that as long as everyone stays healthy, in particular Percy Harvin, those deficiencies can be mitigated.

I've mounted my 12th man flag outside in my garden and in an hour or so, will be firing up my big screen and making sure everything is ready for tonight.

Go Hawks!

I'm so jacked up I put a pork shoulder in the crock pot at 5am. Going to have pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, and fresh picked corn for dinner. I think I may even break down and have a margarita.

Hope it is a spectacular evening for everyone.

Sorry to hear about your losses RD, it's never easy to lose a loved one or those close to you. Sounds like a full season of Hawk Domination is something you deserve.

I'm ready to turn the page on Summer as well and watch our Hawks roll. There's a different feeling going into this season for me. Generally, I'm fretting over something on the team. For the first time I can recall, I'm totally at peace with the group taking the field. These Hawks are great and I sense their hungry to prove last year was just the beginning of a nice long run at the top!

I'm really excited to watch our team play knowing we already got the deal done last year. It's gravy time. Sure I want this team to go onto be a dynasty. Sure I want to see them to continue the domination. But I will be less likely to have a heart attack watching games now.

Go Hawks

River - I'm so sorry for your losses. It's so hard. We love you and hope the light distraction of the season eases some of yor pain. I hope the memories buoy you through this challenge.

On a much happier note, your Sis is cancer free. I still have radiation to go, but that's just to make sure & to prevent a recurrence. I'm feeling ok these days. Workin & now football is HERE! Woo-Hoo!

Fantastic news, Sis! Whenever you're absent for a period of time, I fear the worst.

Thanks for the well wishes, folks. My mom was 88 and lived a full life. The only thing she got cheated out of was that her husband, my dad, got taken from her at a relatively early age, 59, so outside of the initial shock, there wasn't a whole lot of grieving, rather a celebration of life. The buddy of mine that took his life was another matter. That one was pretty rough on a lot of us.

Nice way to start off the season. The wife kinda got P.O.ed when she came home at around 6:30pm and I had the 12th man rocking the house. She's going to tell me to turn it down no matter what the volume, so I start it out real high so when I decrease it by around 30 or 40%, it ends up being about right. My man cave is buried in the lower part of the house behind 16" walls, so there's no problem with the neighbors.

Life can be so hard sometimes. Keep pushing through River! I can tell you are a good man. You have earned the enjoyment you are now getting from your sports world. I will pray for you tonight. And that is not lip service. I will do it.
