I don't think there are any DC's around the league that are so dismissive of Russ, but that is exactly the perception among fans and all but a few very familiar with the Hawks members of the press.

I think I've mentioned it just once or twice, but one of the things that impresses me about Russell is his fakes. Unlike Hass, who a lot of times simply went through the motions, Russell really makes a point to sell every one of his fakes and when he hands off, follows through as if he still has the ball. He had me completely faked me out on last night on one occasion down around the goal line.

One thing about the Pack Fan Base is they are classy. Unlike the neighbors to the South Bay, the Pack fans understand and accept the game for what it is. No blaming the refs, no blaming the 12, no blaming the West Coast Fog.

Bingo RD! Nailed it! RW's ball handling skills are probably the best in the league. It doesn't show up on a stat line but its why the read option and the fly sweeps are so deadly. Then he pulls up and throws a TD to Lockette out of the look.
His wheels are underrated in that he can gash a D but always knows when and how to slide to stay ready for the next play.

Keep dissing him pundits! I wouldn't trade him for any QB in the league.

Was going to say I saw plenty of "worst call ever" T-shirts, and plenty of claims about how the Golden Hail Mary CATCH ruined their season and was the only thing that kept them from winning another SB. They are still clinging to that two years later ( well them and other foolish fans). Get over it.

Agreed, though- I was at the Fail Mary game and both their sheer numbers and friendliness* was notable. A group of them sat directly behind me and took the ribbing gracefully**.

* Although I've never run into an opposition fan at a Hawk game that wasn't a pleasure. Maybe I'm just lucky.

** After the blown PI call on Cam that led to their TD, they were nicely saying "Hey, it's replacement refs- they blow calls!", then after the end of the game they handled it with a forced smile when I was saying "Hey, live by shat officiating, die by shat officiating!"
