week two upset picks

Postby rottweiler » Wed Sep 10, 2014 11:53 pm

Kinda dumb to call these "upset picks" in just the second week of the season, before any teams have really had chances to establish themselves and what they represent. But even so, I just wanna gauge some opinions among my fellow Hawk fans with regard to who they like to beat the odds this Sunday.

Let's see, for this week, I have:

  • Pitt on the road over Baltimore.
  • Jax on the road over Washington.
  • Detroit on the road over Carolina.
  • Oakland at home over Houston.

Who you got?

Those might be "upsets" in Vegas but in my mind, except for the Raiders, none of them really should be. Carolina is at home, so it's still an upset if the Lions win I suppose, but with Newton's ribs, if that game were in Detroit, I think Detroit would rightly be favored.
I disagree with you on that Raiders game, I think Houston will mop the floor with them.
In fact, I think you should start every single Texans player on your fantasy team this week.
I believe the Texans will bounce back from last year's debacle to be a decent (around .500%) team this year.
Jax is just a better team than the VASTLY overrated and over hyped Redskins.
Pitt always plays division opponents tough, and Baltimore could very well be terrible this year, I'm not buying into the Ravens AT ALL this year!

Mine was too.

The only reason I think the Stealers will win tonight is because I'm betting that the negative publicity from the Ray Rice fiasco has had at least some mildly adverse effect on the Ravens' locker room.

Going with my gut on that one.

Have a feeling that the Raiders are about to bust out, offensively.

It helps that upset pick in knowing that Clowney is out for six weeks for the Texans, too.

Kick ass, homeslice. 8-)

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Lions win the NFC North this season.

It's nice to see that Matthew Stafford has developed some mobility and confidence out of the pocket after the play has busted.

It's just a hunch is all, bro, that Raiders pick.

And I hate fantasy football, myself. I think it's all but furtively destroyed the game — by promoting narcissistic players at the expense of team cohesion.

I agree.

That (team whose name we cannot say because of political correctness's) defense is horrid. Jacksonville can beat them in D.C.

Thumbs up. I've been sick of hearing about the Ravens for a long time now.

I agree with 3 out of 4 on that list. In fact, that is exactly the way I picked them in the Pick 'em League.

I believe Baltimore is feeling under siege and what better way and team to take it out on but their most hated rival. Although, if this game were being played in Pittsburgh I would have picked the Stealers.

I went 11-5 last week precisely because I went out on a limb with a few games. I would have done even better if I would have paid attention to HFA with a few of my picks. I especially messed up by not remembering that Miami is not as bad as they were in the recent past and that they have a bona fide QB in Tannahill

Jacksonville proved to me that they could pull an upset over Washington, plus the fact that RG3 is not looking that well and could be the bust of the century.

Carolina surprised me how good they did without Cam Chancellor. But, Detroit has the defense to shut them down and the offense to score on the Panther's solid defense. But, hey, it could go the other way so easily.

Oakland is at home and has shown enough that they should be able to upset the Texans.

So I went with Baltimore, Jacksonville, Detroit, and Oakland.

All of youse here got me with that Stealers pick.

It gives me great pleasure to say of them: wow, what a pathetic NFL team. ( )

Good call, bros.
