Bevell told you...

that this season we'd see more running back by committee. There are already questions about why ML is getting fewer carries. Its a good thing. A fresher ML is a better ML. We saw it in the GB game. Yesterday's game can be argued that we needed more ML and more ball control.

My concern is that Bevell may get too cute with this offense. On our last drive the first down "Jet sweep" to Harvin was a killer. We had the ball with 3 minutes left and two time outs with a chance to score the go ahead if not winning drive. That 6 yard loss destined the drive to failure. Bevell used his new toy at the wrong time.

Not his finest moment, was Lynch even on the field on that play? I don't remember him being so, there has to be other options for that play to work, and having the possibility of a Lynch inside run, backed up on the goal line would have been a distraction at least. There was only three minutes and 90 yards so maybe it's moot, but as you said there was still two timeouts, having him in IMHO might have created a crease for Harvin on that play at least. San Diego was blitzing all day, and over agressiveaggressive, it might have worked. They were coming pretty much all out, and you never know what a split second of hesitation can create on a play of that nature.

We were in position to win the game at that moment. My main concern was leaving too much time on the clock and watching Rivers putting the Chargers in position to win the game with a field goal. But, yeah, that was the wrong time for the Jet sweep, I "knew" that was the play and if I could sniff it out it wasn't hard for San Diego to figure it out either. I understand that it was Doug Baldwin who missed a block he usually makes on that play was the reason it was blown up. Football players make football plays. We knew the Chargers were going to be tough going in, they were playing at home and couldn't afford to start the season 0-2.

The team that won yesterday, as is most often the case, was the team that controlled the ball. Look no further than time of possession, and it is testament to our margin for error that we even had an opportunity to win. We need to be a ball control offense to win against good teams. Look for much more ML against Denver.

Not so fast. Denver abused Lynch in the Super Bowl due to a guy nicknamed Pot Roast. Its no cinch Seattle can run on them. Might need to be a game like the SB where Russ and the passing game move the ball.

They are healthier now, too and have a better pass rush than the Super Bowl with Ware and Miller on the field.
It will be a lot tougher to win this one even at home.
