That's interesting as PFF just put out an article talking about how Carpenter and Sweezy ( as well as Unger) graded out as a top five pass blocking interior in the NFL through three games. That said Okung ranked near the bottom, and Britt was actually ranked higher ( though still pretty low, though above Giacomini so that's a positive). The problems in the pass blocking hasn't been coming from the center of the line, but the outside. Okung needs to find that play that made him valuable, Britt continues to improve each and every week, Carpenter/Sweezy are light years ahead of where they were last season.
Honestly I'm not sure if people have forgotten what was happening last season, or if the expectations or insane. Wilson isn't being pressure more than other QB's, and at least this season when he IS being pressured, more often than not it is because of a blitz ( SD spent pretty much the entire game bringing extra people) Wilson has grown up ( throwing the ball away far more often than last season etc) and I expect that by the end of the year, he will learn how to beat those blitzes ( as that my fellow posters is the QB's responsibility, not the lines.) Couple quick slants to Harvin and Robertson, should back those MFrs off....
Personally, I'm impressed with Both Britt and Carpenter's play so far this season. They are never going to be the premier pass blocking guards in the NFL ( nor should they be expected to be, as that simply isn't what they were brought in to be) but top five in the NFL? Plus the "nasty" in the run game? I'll take that and smile all the way to February.
