Thank you, World Series!!!

Lol!! Whaaaat? Hawksista, I must say after reading you post about us scumbag Niner fans for yrs, I must ask: are you aware that most of us are also Giants fans? But we change from felons to Journey singing Krukow loving positive vibers when we watch OUR Giants. You are one of us Sista....welcome;).

My friends who are Niner and Giants fans can't stand Buck either. I think he is biased against any west coast team.
Go Giants, nice if they were playing the Mariners but maybe someday! Giants win the WS every other year, not bad schedule if you can get it.

My family is allergic to all things niners (long story that you've all heard before) & we have been die-hard a Giant's fans for decades. Don't really need a welcome aboard as I've been aboard. My 81 year old Mom is in love w/ buster.

There is a quotient required for nob gobbling across the NFL Media, and with Collingsworth no one else has to polish anyone else's "ego's" so he'll never go anywhere, otherwise, who will tell us how amazing Peyton's wounded duck under thrown, wrong shoulder toss is?

Not a big baseball fan, but I wish the Giants well. They are an easy team to like, and have a lot of character and heart.

If you've been aboard for decades then you know that most real hardcore Giants fans are straight SF fans, period. Giants, Niners, Dubs. The people that went to the Stick to watch the Giants before it became posh to show up at AT&T are by and large huge Niner fans as well. So Niner fans are whatever you call them, but they change into something different when it is say, Wednesday and you are sitting next to them the ballpark watching Bumgarner? I don't get it. I guarantee you the same assholes that you encountered at that Niner game would still be at a Giants game if you showed up to one wearing rival colors at Candlestick. Even at AT&T/PacBell (whatever) I saw a kid getting pelted with peanuts, bear and everything else for wearing a Cubs hat. I've seen fistfights outside that park (did you forget a kid got stabbed to death last yr after a Giants gane?). Sorry but Giants fans = Niner fans. The only difference is the stadium changed the fan demographic a bit.
Speaking of stadiums, I also don't get how so many people claim to be ardent Giants fans when everyone knows they were lucky to draw 20,000 at Candlestick most nights. I have no reason to doubt your fanhood, but I've long believed a whole lot of Giants fans are bandwagoners that jumped aboard after PacBel was built. Shyt, when I was growing up in the bay Giants were third fiddle to Niners, A's and hell, maybe even RunTMC in Golden State.

+1
One win away from a 3rd title in 5 seasons.
I'm happy for all Giants fans out there, and they are a joy to watch, even for bandwagoners like me:)

It's been a fun few years as a Giant & Hawks fan. I love the Giants, but NOTHING CAME CLOSE to the Lombardi, save maybe the nfccg.

Everyone knows that you can only be a Giants fan if you are also a Niner fan.

baseball games are great to attend - whoever is playing. Even though we were Giants fans, I have fond memories of Catfish Hunter, Vida Blue & Rollie Fingers. The stick sucked, for football and baseball. My favorite parks are in seattle, San Fran and as hideous as it is...I kninda like Wrigley for its history.
Go Giants!!
PS - cool story

Man, what Heart the Giants showed in game 7, eh?:)
That team is easy to root for, because they are truly a Team that has each other's back.
Madison (MadBum) Bumgarner played one of the most memorable series in WS history.
Guy put his team on his back to throw 60+ pitches, just a couple of days after his 117 pitch complete game shutout in game 5. I've never seen anything like it in the 38 yrs I've been watching MLB.
Each one of their championships keeps topping the other. The 2014 Giants did a lot to overcome regular season troubles, and are hoisting a trophy that many thought would land elsewhere.
They are the epitome of Clutch, and match the 90's Yankees in terms of winning 3 WS in a 5yr spam, with a payroll that must be less than what was spent in NY to accomplish the same thing.
Well done, and well deserved, SF Giants!

Old but Slow wrote:like you, Sista, I have been a long time Giants fan. Baseball Giants, that is. When I was a kid there was only two major league teams that were on the West Coast, the Giants and Dodgers. They came out here after the '57 season. The first major league game I saw was the Dodgers against the Milwaukee Braves in 1959, in the LA Collusseum (or however its spelled). Amazing players all over the place. The Dodgers won 11 to 1, but to see the players: Hank Aaron, Gil Hodges, Duke Snider, Red Schoendienst, Del Crandall. And the pitching matchup was Drysdale against Warren Spahn, and both starting pitchers hit home runs. Carl Furillo, Wally Moon, John Roseboro (I think it was him who later went after Koufax with a bat), Frank Torre, and my favorite, Eddie Matthews.
Terrible stadium for baseball, we were right behind home plate but way up in the stands, and it looked like that if you took a good leap you could land on home plate. Short porch with a high wall in left field, and an artificial fence in center and right. Great times, I was still in junior high and was with my dad. I was sorry not to see PeeWee Reese and Jackie Robinson, but they had both just retired. Seems like yesterday.
Despite that game, I was a Giant fan, maybe because of Willie Mays, and continued to be for a long time. Still pulling for them to win this one, although it is a bit greedy to get another with their recent successes.
Roseboro was the one attacked by Juan Marichal (giants) with a bat (and landed a bloody blow too). Koufax was pitching for the dodgers, Rose his catcher.

One of my favorite things about baseball is walking out and seeing the field. It's just a great pass-time and your historical accounting (OBS) was fun to read. Even enjoyed reading the correction. Good stuff.
On a side note - the AAA team in Fresno (the Grizzlies) has been the affiliate of the Giants. We watched Posey, Lincecum & so many others come through Fresno. Now that's all changed & we are no longer the farm team for the Giants. SUCKS! Don't know that we want season tickets moving forward.

Huh...I guess you revel in listening Ronnie Lott singing bout the Giants on KNBR or Jim Harbaugh waxing on about them. The point is, they and the 49ers are equally a part of this community. Maybe you turn the radio off when the scumbag contingent comes on, be it fan or Niner player/coach? You can root for whomever you want to. I just find it silly that you seem to believe you can draw a line between these fanbases. Both teams are equally rooted in the bay area community and the exact same crap happens before, during and after both 49er and Giants games. I am sure you saw all that went down in the city after game 7 - assaults, destruction of property. Giants fa.....er, sorry. Those had to have all been Niner fans doing that.
You live here and celebrate alongside Niner fans. You are as much a part of the people you continually dis as anyone else here.

Future... You are flippin bananas. I don't live in SF, though it's one of my favorite cities in the whole world. I live in Fresno where there are many Niner, Raider, Ram and Cowboy fans. Since the niners started winning, there may be a few more of them, but it's a pretty good mix. Same with baseball...unless one is a transplant, most Fresnan's are Giants, As, Angels or Dodger fans. And most are laker, clipper or Kings fans. Almost nobody round here follows Bay Area basketball.
Many people around here love the Niners and the Dodgers and HATE the Giants, for example...as is the case for a co-worker..... So your silly little rant sounds like nonsensical drivel. Why I respond is beyond me. And I thought you were further east, like in waaaaay worse Yosemite fire smoke than me. Everyone knows those people are Kings fans. Unless you moved or lied.

I thought you posted you live in either SF or San Jose. I am not a Kings fan. Though I love and identify with the Sacto community, the Warriors represent the bay area and that is where I am originally from. I am true to all bay area teams. The pount I made is the same either way. If you look at the post Giants game violence (stabbing) or even.the world series celebration, the core of the Giants' fanbase is more or less tge core of the Niner fanbase. Each are rooted in thw bay area, and that is why it is hard for me to understand how you can attach hatred to one and love to the other based primarily on the actions of the fans. It is sad how the bay has gone downhill but it really has for many reasons.

I hated having to sit there and listen to Buck's punk ass during the first game of the Fox doubleheader yesterday afternoon.
It was bad enough that the game was the frick'n
Cowpukes against the Tardinals: but it was seriously compounded by the idiocy of Buck's more often than not unwarranted commentaries after the plays.
It was obvious that the Bucko's mind was still firmly stuck in baseball mode, 'cause I heard more than a few diamond-like verbs and adjectives from him. BS like:
"Weeden makes a daring slide out of bounds.""Murray bunts straight down the middle for no gain.""It's starting to look like Jason Garrett may hafta bring in a relief pitcher."Get the hell outta our football games, Buckaroo: you don't belong here, man.
