Trump Found Guilty!

A few minutes ago, I came out of my exercise area where I've been rehabbing a knee on which I had surgery by peddling on a stationary recumbent bkie and my wife said "well, you were wrong!" I thought that she was talking about my conclusion of the Mariners' game as going into the bottom of the 9th, they were trailing 4-0 and said "you mean that they won?" "No," she said. "They found Trump guilty on all 34 counts!"

I never thought that they'd ever be able to get an impartial jury to agree on the innocence or guilt of such a controversial and divisive figure like Donald Trump, that at least one juror would either abstain or vote to acquit. So chalk it up, River Dog was wrong.

I was hoping for at least 1 or 2 counts while fully expecting most to be hung! I'm very pleasantly surprised. Now to sentence him to at least a day in jail!

I didn't think they'd get anything on him, and boy, was I surprised! Sentencing isn't until July 11th and he's going to appeal, and since he isn't a flight risk, it's very unlikely that he'll spend a day in jail. But it's the symbolism that counts. He's a convicted felon.

There are a lot of points to argue if you're a Trumpie, though. Yes, he was obviously guilty, at least in my mind. However, the trial occurred in New York City, a perfect pool from which to select a jury if you're a prosecutor. Do you think that they would have been able to select a jury willing to convict him if it were held in Laramie, Wyoming?

This was obviously a very political trial. Much to the dismay of NYPD, who have complained vociferously about him, this prosecutor, Allen Bragg, has a notorious reputation for reducing felony crimes to misdemeanors, but in this case, he elevated a misdemeanor to a felony. His predecessor refused to bring charges. It plays perfectly into Trump's witch hunt narrative.
