His stint in the minors before getting to the big league included a year playing for the Vancouver Mounties in I think 1958.
One of the classiest players or persons in sports.

Thierry Rautureau

He was a Seattle icon, then was befriended by Tom Douglass and co-hosted the Seattle Kitchen Show on KIRO radio. I'm no chef, but he gave me some great ideas and improved my skills. My biggest takeaway, make that pan HOT when you're trying to sear something. RIP to the Chef In The Hat, it happened too soon.

I just saw episode 3 of Curb Your Enthusiasm in which he and Larry had a conversation about putting each other in their wills.
A normal conversation but still a bit eerie.

A good comedian and he’s going to be missed.

Yep, me, too. Same goes for those scum sucking lawyers of his that would make a pact with the Devil to get their client off. I lost a lot of faith in our judicial system during that trial.

Wow, this one hit home. Bill Walton passed away from cancer at the age of 71. RIP.

He was a pretty controversial person in his younger days, less so as he grew older.

I remember Walton talking about the time when he was in college and got arrested for laying down in Wilshire Blvd in downtown LA as part of an anti-war protest, creating a huge traffic jam. His coach at UCLA, John Wooden, drove to the jailhouse and bailed him out. As he was driving Walton home, Wooden said to him "Bill, suppose that your mother had a heart attack, and the ambulance couldn't get to her to save her life because it got held up in traffic. How would that make you feel?" Walton said that he was stunned, speechless, that he had never thought of that kind of consequence.

I saw UCLA play in Pullman when Walton was a senior. During the pregame warm-ups, I walked down to the breezeway from the court to the visitor's locker room, and when UCLA trotted off the court and to the locker room, I leaned my shoulder out so I could bump Bill Walton. I had to equal my cousin's claim to fame when she kicked the tire of the car the Beetles were riding in.

Walton had become quite a character as a color man for CBK games. He will be missed.

R.I.P. Larry Allen. I was pretty young in his heyday, but I remember hearing his named called often by the commentators. Beast of a lineman from what my older relatives would say. 52 is far too young.

Yeah, I saw that. Those childhood heroes of mine that are passing away aren't from my childhood anymore.

West was perhaps the best pro athlete ever to hail from the state of West Virginia and next to Chuck Yeager, the most recognizable personality. RIP.

What I can remember best about the Bob Newhart Show was staring at Suzzane Pleshette's knockers.

He was once on the Johnny Carson show, and Newhart, a chronic stutterer, was talking about Carson's ex-wives, one named Suzzane and another named Suzana. After struggling through the names, he said it was easy to get them mixed up as getting to know one of Carson's wives was like being in the army and afraid to make friends because it would be so traumatic when they got killed.
