Am I the only one that remembers Hawktawk's conservative rants? The guy was the most rabid social conservative on the board. His posts about how the left was attacking Christianity and religious freedom were as extreme as his Trump hate posts. I'm surprised he's willing to side with the left knowing they will continue their assault on removing Christianity from public life if they are in power with their intense PC push. He's claiming he's putting country over party. I see it more as putting his Trump hate over his personal values given Trump has been putting policies in place and done more for religious freedom than any Republican president in my life time. I guess he stopped caring about a president protecting Christianity at this point and put his Trump hate over his religious belief or party affiliation.

As far as country goes, country is in good shape economically and as free as I've seen it given all the protests, bothering people in restaurants, and general behavior of all the political parties involved. The press is going to town for and against Trump, so they are as free as they ever were for all the talk of assaults on the press. The press has been screwing themselves over by being as partisan as they have been.

I'd say the worst actions taken by Trump at the moment is the disrespectful, crude, insulting example he's setting for social interaction on a public level, his inciting the baser nature of humans by inciting racial tensions with his immigration policy sales approach, and his complete disregard for the environment. The immigration policies for all the crying are enforcement of policies that already exist. The trade deals are starting to come in slightly more favorable for the United States as he builds a little bit more on existing trade deals. For the most part life is mostly the same barring the insane political attacks back and forth, yet to listen to the whiny left you would think we were living in some kind of tyrannical Communist state.

I don't much care for Trump. I don't think he's a good man. For the most part he's keep the good times rolling forward. That's mostly what you want from a president absent all the controversial rhetoric and Twittering.

Democrats rely on single issue voters all the time. Here's what they vote on regardless of the other baggage that comes with the dems.

1. Racism

2. Gender

3. Abortion

4. Religion

5. Health Care

6. Govt. Handouts

Since many of these are starting to fall apart, they are now trying to replace them with Socialism, presidential temperment and sexual harassment. It is yet to be seen if Racism is morphed from the past from black/white to now just "Old white Men".

I think he means Democrat politicians rely on voters caring about one issue. They'll back several hoping to get voters behind any one of them. This works for both sides.

That's exactly what I mean. They rile everyone up saying that So-and-so will take away your right to an abortion so vote for me instead. What they don't tell them is they will confiscate half their paycheck, force them to rely on some govt. handout, pay for other people's kids to go to college while yours have to owe their life to repaying their costs, force you to pay for over priced health care, support LGBT with your tax dollars and violate your religeous beliefs, etc, etc, etc.

E.g. look at this hand over here, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain though that is ripping you off.

And the Republicans are different how? I talk to lots of Republicans too, they are usually single issue voters as well. You also forgot healthcare for the Democrats.

For Republicans it's usually the following:

1. Socialism. They love to call the Democrats socialist even with the reality that we are are a blend of socialism and capitalism just like nearly every other major world economy.

2. Taxes.

3. Defense/Terrorism/Boogie Man. Whichever boogie man the government is selling at any given time that prompts increased military spending and gives them carte blanche to maintain military alliances and action around the world, even supporting dictators like the Saudis.

4. Religion.

5. Abortion.

6. Gun rights.

You trying to make it seem like the Republicans vote for other than single issues important to them? Most people vote on single issues or rather have an issue priority list they tick off as they go down from most important to least. All of them are manipulated by fear. Then there are the libertarians, anarchists, socialist, and the variety of other political philosophies with goals farther and farther from the center.

at the end of it all, there is only one real issue most people vote on. That is the economy. Right or left the best way to stay in office is keep the economy healthy, jobs growing, and prosperity going. You do that and the American people will support you. The one thing all Americans hate regardless of party is economic hard times, no jobs, and a lousy standard of living.

It's a pretty amazing transformation to watch [biHawktawk[/b] change to the degree he has based on his hatred of one man. Hawktawk used to make Idhawkman look like a moderate, now he's so focused on hating Trump he's given up on his previous values.

Not sure where the former cop angle comes from asea. I'm a former grass janitor ie golf course Superintendent of 33 years now out of the industry. I was in a number of other fields including building the I 205 bridge between vancouver and portland at the time I was assaulted in tri cities. Of course there couldn't be any charges filed. My friend took my by my perps house in burbank about 4 months later and I knocked on the door and asked him to come out and fight like a man. It was sweet watching the little midget cower in fear and beg me not to hurt him over something from the past but that's not the point. Point is I remember vividly an attack from over 3 decades ago without knowing many of the other details of the evening, year , date etc. This is one of many reasons why I believe Ms Blasi Ford is telling the truth.

As for Bart Okavanaugh the drunk rapist tell me how his life is messed up? Hes Trumps impeachment proof ringer with his dream job. Its Ms Blasi Fiord whose life was altered permanently on that night long ago.

It wasn't a trial, it was a job interview and when you're going to sit in judgement of 350 million people for the next 3 decades plus EVERYTHING matters and should be laid to rest. As I've said, Why wasn't Gorsuch subjected to this? Why wasn't I in here vehemently opposing his nomination?why not any other Scotus nominee since Thomas was accused of "sexual harassment" 3 decades ago? What about the lie detector test she passed? What about the other 4 women who reported various episodes of sexual misconduct. Why did innocent man Bart Okavanaugh huddle with a phalanx of lawyers for days at the WH and give a powder puff Faux interview where he used the term "fair process" 21 times, total talking points. Because he's a lying drunk weasel who tried raping girls in his youth.Thats why.

My hatred of trump is a separate issue and as is clear I loath this reprehensible excuse for a human being so bad I'm going to vote straight ticket for a party I've loathed my whole life and still do. There's no republican party anymore. Its the trump party and I dont give a good god damn about the stock market, economy, social issues etc. Trump need to go asap.Country over party . Now if Kasich or Ben Sasse or Nikki Haley decides to run in 20 then we can talk but until then I'm going to hold my nose and there will be smoke coming off the tires of my hemi heading down the polls to fire the only weapon I have with bullets in the chamber at this sordid criminal lunatic fringe administration.

That is all. Done with the topic and GO HAWKS!! on that we can all agree.

I simply disagree. The republican party has a strong plank in the 2nd amendment this is true but no more important than:

1. Religious freedoms
2. Economic conservatism
3. Originalist judges
4. School Choice

There's much more but you get the idea. When you ask a democrat what their platform is, most will give you just one issue. When you ask a Republican what their platform is, they'll rattle off a number of issues.

You weren't a former cop? Did you not go by the moniker Tawkhawk on the old forum? I could have sworn we had a hardcore conservative former cop poster on the old forum with a very similar name.

The R's have different planks in their platform just as the Dems do, but conservative voters are no more or less single issue orientated than liberals.

As was once said, all politics are local. Come out to eastern Washington and start talking about breaching the lower Snake River dams you'll see just how single issue orientated conservative voters are.
