College Admissions Scandal

Boy, as if we needed another issue to remind us of the gulf between the haves and have nots. If this stuff is true...and we don't know all the details yet and have yet to hear the accused offer their explanations...if it's true, they have to come down on these people like a ton of bricks.
Although not always paid for and not nearly as blatant, this type of preferred treatment occurs in just about every field where subjective assessments of the qualifications of individuals have to be made. In sports as a youth, I would get lampooned by our coach for a mistake while the rich kid received much less discipline for worse offenses. In the workplace, the old adage is that it's not what you know, but who you know, or rather, who knows your parents. It really is a travesty.
But then again, life isn't fair.
